Colt may start building Pythons again

Nope. Pythons aren't rare to begin with. They made them forever. Sure, they aren't making them any more, but I've held many and fired some, and seen more of them in gun shops through the years than any rare firearm.

By the way, even if Colt changes the design, the new Pythons can still be listed. Revolvers are exempt from microstamping, LCI, etc. This is why we see new revolvers being added to the roster

While they are not rare, there are certainly more hopeful buyers than there are pythons. And because they are out of production, most owners keep them as safe queens when I'm sure they would like to shoot them more. Modern machining methods will produce tighter tolerances and better consistency overall, which may negate much of the need for hand fitting, but I believe a premium will always be placed on the old-world craftsmanship of the originals. Modern S&Ws would have far more interest if it wasn't for their internal lock. I think a new Python would be in the $1500 range, and the only way Colt could screw it up is by putting in an internal lock or adding rails and other tacticool nonsense. They need to build a quality product and keep it true to form. They will sell many.

Just as I predicted a few years ago that the Colt Delta Elite would return within the next 5 years, so too I fully suspect my prediction that Colt will soon put a Colt Python into production again, and to happen within the next two years.

I think people will be quite surprised in a few short years, when marketing at Colt pulls their heads out of their arses and re-releases a Royal Blue production Python again, in 4" and 6", and may even get it on the CA roster as it has no issue of micro-stamping/mag-disconnect/loaded chamber indicator requirements. Let's say at SHOT 2016?? That might even be a smart move for them. It would be a top-seller on the cult-hyped mystique and inflated legendary status alone, and not be affected by all the Anti-2nd Amendment legislation aimed at their ARs and semi-auto handgun offerings.

....This is WHY I suspect we will see Colt release more revolvers in the near future, to encourage a continued presence in the CA market.

No doubt the marketing at Colt knows of the mystique and legendary pricing that used Colt Pythons bring in; they would be fools not to re-release a Python in the near future considering where the legislative chips are falling against auto-loaders and ARs. But then Colt's marketing and R&D have been comprised of fools for nearly 2 decades, it would not surprise me if they drop the ball on it.

I predict the price of used Pythons in the marketplace to plummet once new Pythons come out. Even if they aren't quite as good, the ability to buy one cheaper will lessen the demand for owning an older one.
