Double action pistols can have atrocious double action triggers. In fact, I can't think of one that doesn't seriously suck. The pulls are generally long and heavy and rarely result in a well aimed hit on the first shot. Of course training and some minor gun smithing (swapping triggers and springs on some guns) can mitigate this very negative aspect, but you should understand what you are getting into.
If you really want a double action handgun for home defense, consider a revolver. If you have shot revolvers double action and don't like to shoot them double action, save your cash on a decocker pistol, because its going to be just as bad or worse.
