Decocker or no?

I am looking at adding a CZ 75 to my collection. No real experience with a pistol with a decocker. The pistol is not planned to be on the list of guns on my cc permit. But more as a home defense go to weapon.

What are the pros and cons of either the model with the safety or he model with the decocker.

Model with safety can be carried cocked and locked, decocker model not so much. That is the primary diff IMO. Cz says for defense go with decocker, for target or comp go safety. But as long as you don't keep the safety on at home, then really there is no difference between the two for home defense. Go with decocker if you can...

I do not want to find my gun "safe" when I am trying to wake up at 3am. For HD- loaded chamber and decocer.

My home defense has a decocker. When the threat is gone I simply flip the decocker and no worries. Also it has a longer first 'double action' pull so I don't worry about accidentally discharging when the safety is off.

More importantly to me was making sure my HD firearm was quality built. It doesn't have any failures with any ammo I may potentially use. I wanted to make sure it would go bang when safety and protection was a priority. And if for any reason it was confiscated it wouldn't break the bank...and heart.

Decocker or no?

The very simple answer to your question is do you plan on storing your HD gun cocked and locked safety on, or decocked in double action mode? If A, then the safety non decocker is your only option. If B, then either one can be decocked. The decocker model makes it safer by having a decocking lever that safely drops the hammer for you, putting it in DA mode. The other, you must manually decock the weapon putting it in DA mode. This can be and is done safely every weekend in competitions, however, there is little room for error or inattention when doing so, and an ND in your home is a much different situation than an ND on a competition firing line. One will get you DQ'd, the other may end in divorce or worse

Personal preference. Any sd gun for me must have a decocker w no safety or striker fired w no safety

Good choice for HD which my SP-01 Tactical is in my HD rotation. One less thing to think about in an HD defense situation.

I've spent a considerable amount of time on all three of the common handgun actions, single action only with a safety, stricker and decocker double action single action.
For a long while I owned and trained with all three. I discovered that trying to stay profeciant with all of them was just too much. I decided to let go of the DA/SA decockers and sold all I owned. At the time it was two Sigs 220 and 229 and two CZ's SP-01 Tactical and P06. I still own one Sig, but it is a single action only P220 Elite and three CZ's all with a safety(SP-01, 75b, P-09).
I would encourage you to try them all and use your own exsperiance to decide what is right for you, all can be effective and do the job and only you will know what is best for you.

I have been using Sigs for many years. I am more comfortable with the decocker. In my case, I am better with the DA than the SA, I have a tendency to stab at the SA. The weapons are safe and depends on your preference, I want a bang every time I pull the trigger.

Skip the decocker. If you want to let the hammer down on the saftey just put your finger in front of the hammer, pull the trigger then slide your finger out of the way. The saftey can't engage if the hammer is down. If you ever want to do any trigger work the saftey model will be easier to work on.

One of my main carry guns is a CZ 75 PCR - it's a great gun.

I tend to shoot it better DA than I do a lot of my other guns, and I usually do a lot of holster drills which ends up being about 60% DA overall
