I like the Hacks enough that it is on the wifes defensive gun.

It is not great for the range but very nice for sd application

Rear: Vickers Elite Battlesight for Glock, Black Serrated

Trijicon give measurements, but Vickers Wilson Combat does not, so I'm worried about the height of the sights and if they are compatible with each other.

Not a good match Neo, there are a couple problems.
The WC front sight is much taller and the HD front sight is much thicker.
I don't have the exact size's, but mixing my two Glock 23's would cause a very high POI with the HD front post practically filling the WC rear sight notch.

Anyone know where I can get blacked-out Rear U-notch and bright big orange with tritium front?

I have a couple sets of Hackathorns. My eyes actually pick up the neon green front sight better than the neon orange. Everyone's eyes are different though so YMMV.

Great thread. I'm looking at the Hackathorns for my Shield though I may go with the serrated rear. I need to figure out whether I want those or a three-dot/i-dot. I'm thinking the orange will be better for me since I really like orange fiber sights.

Either way this is helping me make the decision.

I don't use them, but a lot of guys at my dept do. They've let me run more than a few drills using them. I think they work great and I would recommend the orange over the green. And don't be fooled into thinking it will diminish your accuracy. You will be surprised how accurate you can be with them.

I'm not target shooter, and certainly not the top shot at my agency but I shot a strand of yarn holding a can on a dare at 25 yards. I'm not saying I could repeat that but I sure was impressed. If I decide to move away from my standard glock sights, that's what I would put on it.

Just some food for thought..may be irrelevant but the orange/red may blend in with the fireball coming from your barrel, possibly slowing you down from picking up your front sight for follow up shots. Shooting out doors wouldn't matter. Would make sense color wise..just my crazy head thinking way into it for that reason I opted for green f/o's. Then again my eyes pick up the greens better.

I have the lime Ameriglo front with a black 10-8 rear on a Shield, and the big, bright front sight does pick up really fast as you draw the gun up, and for me works especially well if I keep my eyes focused only on the target as would likely happen in a self defense situation. The dot almost superimposes like a RDS.

As far as lime vs orange, it's mostly user preference, however I don't think the orange is self-luminescent in low light, could be wrong on this. The lumi-lime really lights up!

I want to try the T-Cap setup with the narrower front, looks like a similar concept but with more precision possible.

You don't want to focus only on the target (tunnel vision)..you will need to train to see beyond the target as well. I say this from my experience involved in shooting. It's good to focus on the target or threat, but make sure and train yourseld to see beyond.

As for sights.. I am loving the Ameriglo so far on my Glock 42 (Idot) and I am sure Hackthorn will be great as well.

Your right, tunnel vision is not a good thing and we train in hopes of not having it, but usually does happen in a real world high stress 'black' situation. All the training in the world will not stop it, simply because there is no training that can truely equal it.
That said force on force training is the best at training your mind in the hopes of limiting the effect, the biggest problem is the total unpredictablness of the human mind. Once the adrenalin dumps and poop hits the fan, no matter your level of training. You may be one cool customer(like we all like to think we are)and make great decisions and hit your target like your at the range or a match. Or you may lose your cool, dump 2 mags hit everything but your target and think you only shot two rounds.
The biggest problem is most shooters have never been close to being in the black, have no idea the effects it has on the human mind and body. That's when the goofy loupe comes in, doing the samething over and over.
Good training, good equipment and good physical conditioning give you the best odds at winning and doing everything right, but it's no guaranty. One of the advantages a career criminal has over Joe public is the fact that many times in the course of his criminal career he has been in the black.
