true but i think it has to be in a locked container say when you walk from your car to the range....at least that is what i was told...(that you could get in trouble if a LEO stops you etc and find that during the walk from the car to the range the firearm is not secured)

but a trunk is technically enough......say if you drove home went into your garage closed the door...etc....

While this may be true, my roommate (who is LE) explained it to me as when i pull into the gun ranges parking lot, it should be considered private property at that point and you should be fine. I bring the gun into the range in and unlock container and have never had problems.
