I already have GLOCK Gen4 : 17/19/26. Tried VP9 this AM at the range. Feels great in my hands. Accuracy is OK. Not like my Gen4 Glocks, but not far behind. I just really like the way it feels in my hand. It seems more complicated than GLOCK. LE Model comes with 3 mags and is relatively inexpensive. I may get one . Maybe

My VP9 has great ergo's and a great trigger out of the box. Also comes with night sights if you get the LE version. My VP9 is also a very accurate shooter (I am sure the trigger helps). I am also a Glock fan. You can't go wrong with either, but out of the box I give the edge to the HK.

That video is just a child having a temper tantrum because his VP9 was not working. That torture test did not prove anything.

Just buy it, and test and evaluate some more. Not like you will lose out even a penny if you do not like it. It's a free long term rental for you.

I have both the VP9 And a G17 and the G19. I shoot better with a he VP9 and it does feel better in my hands. The Glocks grip angle sucks IMHO but they go bang when the trigger is pulled. I just got me a M&P9 and now I planning to sell off my Glocks. Maybe!!! Or I will keep one just incase if the SHTF happens.

Both are great guns and will serve you well. . .And If you happen to drop either, simply bend over and pick it up rather than step on it and buring it in the "cement" sand

I'd pass on the VP9 personally, the internals appear much more complex than the Glock or Walther PPQ. Also, VP9 doesn't do well when subjected to mud/water. This may not matter if all you want to do with the gun is go to the range.

Personally, I only buy guns that I have faith will go bang every time, under whatever conditions they may be subjected to.

I own a gen 4 glock 19 and 23. They have both been flawless. That said, the glock is not the most comfy in the hand. I get glock knuckle (I need to dremel the bottom of the trigger guards asap).

I have been looking into the VP9 and PPQ for quite awhile as I was looking for something a little more comfy and I have decided PPQ > VP9.

IMO, you can't go wrong with a Glock or PPQ. If I had to pick one, I'd go PPQ even though I don't own one yet. It is much more comfy in the hand than glock and seems to be equal in reliability. If Gen 5 glock comes out with an ergonomic spiderman grip like VP9 or PPQ, I'd be all over it (this is what I'm actually hoping gen 5 glock will be).

The best advice is to go rent the guns your interested in and see what you like the best.

Disclaimer, the above is all IMHO which isn't worth anything......LOL

Walther PPQ, is not on departmets carry list . I will check , but I don't think it is. Good gun? Better than VP9?

It's very interesting, i've considered both.

Just picking up the pistol, the VP9 feels great in my hands, I love the rear slide wings which facilitate grip. The grip options are nice for pesonalizing grip and its quite accurate. Surprisingly i seem to shoot the Glock more accurately. I'm honestly not sure what it is about the Glock. At least for me they don't feel particularly ergonomic or comfortable and yet it shoots very nicely.

Yup, and not anything even close to a military reliability test either. It was an "abuse test"... how much unusual physical abuse can the gun take before it fails. A military reliability test is all about how much normal military operational use can the gun take, in a wide variety of environments, without failing to fire when called on.

Glocks are like the gun you hate to love. They feel like a brick in your hand but they shoot so nice and accurately and are so reliable you end up sacrificing comfort for function in the end.

IMO VP9 all the way UNLESS you prefer a smaller sized/subcompact gun for carry, in that case you may want to go with a G26 since its small, easy to shoot and still holds 10 rounds. For me the difference is the grip, the back-strap on the Gen 4 is ok but the grip on the VP9 could be the best grip of any handgun ever made and as a result I just shoot it more accurately and its easy for me to keep it on target.

The VP9 will have a better trigger and better ergonomics but the Glocks will be simpler to detail strip.

The VP9 should prove extremely reliable and the Gen4 Glocks may have weak and erratic ejection including brass ejected toward the shooter's face. The ejection problems most likely can be fixed with Apex parts.

My VP9s are fine with just aftermarket sights. I always seem to have a much more extensive list of things I need to do before I'm happy with my Glocks.

                                Either are great, usable options.
Ya, the VP9 will have a better trigger until you expose the gun to some minor elements, like water... then it fails. Mac from Military arms channel couldn't get his VP9 to function after it fell in a puddle. The Glock is gonna work in that situation. All of my HK's are exposed hammer guns.
