Paid 1900 for mine about 3 years ago here in Kali. 98%+. No box. They are going for more than that everywhere else, also.

Between $2,500 to $3000 would be a good price.

Wouldn't call it "good", but unfortunately realistic.

Based on this forum, at least 2500 - 3k. Rest of the country should be lower, not exactly sure how much lower.

That's really insane. When I was looking for my first .357 I fondled a K frame, a Damn Wesson, and a Python. The Python was about $40 more than the other two iirc and really wasn't much different. I got the Damn Wesson for $275 because it was smoother than the Python. The Python looks really nice, but is otherwise not much different than any other quality revolver.

No offense meant Sig, but another story about how cheap guns used to be is really not helpful in todays economy. They are what the market will bear, and right now the pretty snake revolvers are the top of the food chain. I was just at an auction and watched them go for around 2500 to 2800 one right after the other. The blued guns don't go for as much as the shiny ones though.

I wonder why the shiny silver ones are worth more than the awesome Royal Blue finish. It is much harder to find a blue finish that is in perfect to near perfect condition. Does anyone know the production numbers of each model and type by year?

Rarity probably accounts for the higher price of the silver Pythons. I agree - the deep, rich, wet-looking blue on my Python is amazing.

I would not rate the Python that sold on Gunbroker for $1799, referenced above, as being anywhere near mint. Although not a mid 70s Python Gunbroker auction # 527843525 might be a better reference point for an almost mint gun. I don't think there's much difference in value between a mid to late 70s and 80s gun. However, I'm a firm believer that a gun is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Speaking of Python prices in the Jurassic days...

Perhaps one reason the price of quality pistols has risen 7 fold is because the income of the people buying them has increased 10 fold since those grand old days of low prices.
