Glock 21 is probably the most reliable and proven 45 you can get your hands on

That's what I chose and have never had a problem, they eat anything, hold 13+1 when your out of state, they are the AK 47 or handguns. I you are betting your life on it you can't go wrong. There are other guns that are shinier but the G21 is like that ok looking girl with a nice rack and great butt that makes one hell of a meal keeps the house clean and in great in the sack.
There are sniper everywhere and nowhere.....who knows what is out there.

Was thinking about another XD (I have an XD9SC), but I think I could go for something different.

I definitely don't mind getting used, so that will definitely open my options up more.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
+1 on the XD. I got an XD45 Tactical to be my home defense gun since I shot an XD9 in competition A LOT. After shooting it, I REALLY like that 45...

Smith&Wesson M&P. Buy it soon and take advantage of the extra 2 mags they will send you.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Another vote for the 220. If you're around the area, I'll let you try it. Good luck.

if you have gorilla hands, usp 45.

                    if you don't 1911 or hk45.

1+ on the RIA 1911 Tactical, I got mine for under $550 out the door including DROS. It's the one on the right

Either Glock or HK USP gets my vote.

Go to the range, try em out and see what you like best. Everyones going to have a different opnion, but see what fits your hand best and what shoots best for you.

I just want a good shooter. Thanks.

Where are you at? I just got a SA GI here in sac for $620 out the door. But I have to buy/prove a gun lock since it doesnt come with one.
