    I need a .45. Recommendations?

I'm looking to spend around $700 for a .45. Anyone have any recommendations? I was thinking about the Beretta PX4, but have not seen a gun store around that has it so I could feel how the trigger is like. I am really not picky (in terms of it being compact, polymer, etc). I just want a good shooter. Thanks.

      Home defense?
Glock (Will eat anything. Well proven)
XD (Will eat anything. Outlook is good)

      Range queen?
CZ97b (CZ is very underrated. Most accurate 45 out of the box not counting custom guns)
Used SA 1911 Loaded (might be hard to find for under $700 out the door)
Used Kimber 1911 (same as SA 1911)

      Those are my picks

If you want a shooter, I'd say Used Kimber. Best bang for your buck at $700ish in a 45. Great trigger and accurate.

How about a revolver? Like a S&W 625? Not as tacticool, but as accurate as high end custom semi-autos, reliable with any ammo, no jams, fast reloads with moon clips.

I would personally suggest a Sig 220, HK USP or USPc, or some sort of 1911, depending on what your specific usage would be, and assuming you aren't unwilling to go used.

Try them out and see what you like best.

Go handle/shoot the S&W MP45. You may like it.

Yeah, I've been seeing a lot like the P220. I will also see about the CZ, I forgot who, but someone on the forums also suggested it. I'll probably hit a couple of ranges here and see what they have for me to try.

Was thinking about another XD (I have an XD9SC), but I think I could go for something different.

I definitely don't mind getting used, so that will definitely open my options up more.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Never shot a revolver, but curious about them. Hopefully my local range will have some to try out, but I'm really looking at a semi-auto, atm.

If you want a really nice revolver, look at an older S&W in good condition. Something like a Model19 or a 27/28 will be in your price range and they are sweet range guns. Super accurate and really nice triggers as well.

For $700.00 I vote for a full size Glock and ammo. You will not find a better gun for the money IMO. This is coming from a 1911 fanatic.

You are having a difficult time finding the PX4 in .45 because it isn't on the certgun list.

So it would have to be a used one obtained from one of the loopholes.
