I have seen people claiming they have springer pro spec guns that are not pros , I have even seen pro slides on gunbroker minus the lower for sale also the operator model with rail (railed profesional pc9111lr) does not have professional written on the slide like the non rail model (non railed professional pc9111) but only the professional model rail or non rail will start with a crg prefix at the beginning of the serial number , unless as Chapped Hide stated you have one of the FBI , DEA , HRT pistols but they are selling for 3 to 4 times the price.

This is the gun in question, and it does look like it says CRG for the first three serial numbers

That looks like an older model, wonder if it has the Nowlin barrel.

What would you think that should go for Chapped Hide?

As long as the round count is reasonable, no less than 2k. If it's got the Nowlin barrel then 2100-2200 as they are more desirable. Curious to see the serial and certificate to get the date it was made.

I asked if it came with mags, box, papers, etc, but I haven't heard back yet.

The mags and box would be a non issue if the price was right as they can be replaced by SACS. The certificate would be most important to have. If you can get the serial, give SACS a call and ask for Deb or Amanda, they will be able to give you any history on the gun.

When I was looking last month there were a couple on Gunbroker for $2500.

I know the SA Pro's are pretty hard to come by but I just don't like how the 20 LPI checkering feels in my hand. Yes I have baby soft hands

Didn't know the prices for these were in the $2,500-$3,000 range. Can't believe it will shoot any better than a LB or WC. Not really the best looking 1911 either.

I guess those who love Springfield Armory pistols view the Professional like CZ lovers view the Accu-Shadow.

It has nothing to do with function, it's just that the originals came with Nowlins and there are buyers (collectors) that prefer this.

The FSC on the PRO is hand cut unlike the rest of the models that are machine cut. Because of this, they aren't nearly as sharp as the FSC on say a TRP. As far as looks go, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I didn't buy mine because it was pretty

The model is the PC9111. I think I can get one for a pretty good deal but want to do a price check for a moderately used version. Not perfect, but pretty close.

                                Thanks in advance Calguns.
I've got two, the first one I went on the waitlist, and got it in 28 months and my cost was 2500 out the door. I just picked up another one two months ago that I happened to find in stock at Kentucky gun co for 2729.00 before shipping and fees. From what Ive seen at the springfield forum at 1911forum.com, the wait time is still pretty long.
