^^^I thought you were in the habit of using the mag release as a thumb rest.

To the OP: I have the extended slide lock on all my Glocks. Never had an inadvertent activation, despite repeated holstering and unholstering at events. I usually use either the slingshot or overhand (mainly because not all slide locks are located in the same place on all pistols, so one manual of arms for ALL of them is a good thing, no?), but I have the extended slide lock just in case I want to use it as a release.

Bottom line, IMHO: It's a cheap part, and it doesn't get in the way. Why not? Just don't use it as your primary method of slide release. Besides, if you're gaming and you've shot to slide lock, something went wrong, eh?

SO, is a gunfight not a competition?

Ah see, there's the misconception of the Glock's unergonomic design. Many complain about the unergonomic grip angle on a Glock. I complain about the mag release, I mean, c'mon... who in their right mind would put a mag release button there? Them designers musta been smokin' something good when they designed it.

            Why?!

It is a slidestop, NOT a slide release.
Overhand (gross motorskill) slingshot is the way to go.

I like the stock G22 slide stop. I try the extended slide release couple time, just don't feel like it's necessary.

i replaced it on G34 with a regular release.. i tend to high thumb it and more often than not, ill ride it inadvertently when shooting.. so out it went.. its nice but it tends to get in my way..

I almost never use the slide release anyways.. my glocks have that 'quality' where they drop the slide when reloading the magazines with some force..

I not only put on the extended slide lock, I put on the extended mag release and the extended slide release. Not having the dexterity I used to, I thoroughly enjoy these features and would do it to the next Glock I purchase as well.

as someone said, it's quicker to use it as a slide release in competition. esp if something goes wrong and you miscount your rounds left in the gun. (it happens
it probably would put more wear on the part, but it's like a $4 part, and it takes 2 min to change out.
still though it's probably a preference thing.
to the OP, get one, try it if you don't like it, change back. not a lot of time or money involved, so...

i'm more worried about wear on the slide itself, fwiw.

Not if you're shooting IDPA. If you ain't at slide lock, you have to pocket the partially empty mag.

It's only a competition if the ambush has gone wrong.

And if you push down on it, it releases the slide, too! Cool!

I have one on my 19 and I love it. Much easier to use than the one from the factory, yet not big enough to get hung up on stuff. I highly recommend it!

My 19 came from the factory with one. I will be putting one on two of my other three.

DONT use the extended mag release either. Unless you have tiny hands.
Pistols are designed so you have to switch your grip a little to release the mags. With the ext release you dont, which means you can release the mags by mistake because you can reach the release with your regular grip!.

I put one on my G19 when I bought it. The original slide release would allow the slide to lock when it was pulled back. However, it made releasing the slide via slingshot very difficult.

With the extended slide release, I have to thumb up slide release when I want to lock the slide back now. However, releasing the slide via slingshot is way easier now.
