it's much better than the original IMO for locking slide open and releasing slide. it's got a bit more grip for the thumb, but not so much that it gets hung up on holsters and such.Reason has seldom failed us because it has seldom been tried
Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion

The extend slide release comes standard on the Glock 34, 35, 37, 38 and 39.
I haven't noticed a difference, since I "sling shot" the slide like Gaston Glock intended.

Got it on my G17. Love it!
As has been said, it improves your ability to lock the slide back without rotating your strong hand. You should not be using it to release the slide. Use the 'weak-hand over the top' slingshot method.

One unintended consequence of an extended slide stop is inadvertent activation, where while firing the user's grip activates the slide stop causing slide lock with rounds remaining in the mag.
Some people do not have this problem. Most I've seen do.
My 2 cents: Use stock release and sling shot the slide as designed.

A matter of personal opinion. Overhand grip is a gross motor skill, so it is easier to do when adrenal is surging (better for combat). It is also 2-3 times slower than using the slide release (which is better for competition). My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

matter of opinion or not, it's plain to see that using it as a release would cause more wear than than the slingshot method.
that said, it's a glock. it's a disposable weapon, much like geos were disposable cars. i doubt it's something you should worry about.
to the OP: unless you have small hands, you shouldn't have any problem setting the slide stop. if you do, go for it. it doesn't look like a part that would easily snag.Comment
