    ...

Hey guys so I picked up a trijicon rmr sight I would like to have it mounted onto my hk usp stainless pistol.

First off, should I do it?

Second, how should I do it?

Should I get a rear sight mount or have it milled into the slide?

I don't care about co witnessing.

This gun is my hd gun and range gun btw.

    Thanks!

USPSA now has a Carry Optics division, but you'd be spanked showing up with a USP 45.

A Glock 34 with an RMR would make a great Carry Optics pistol, you can run around and shoot stuff and draw from a holster.
Yes, and I shoot steel, and paper about once a week :P

I don't do competition, Everyone gets mad at me because I'm too good

This will just be for target shooting and hd.

You can try this universal mount and see if you like it.

If your technique is strong/consistent than being non melted just means a steep bore to sight convergence and no front to easily index off. You will see it but only when tilting the handgun slightly upwards.
I have both styles and prefer melted.
i prefer them over traditional fixed opens.

IMHO don't do it. The RMR makes me dizzy because of the fish bowl affect around the glass and it's slower to aquire the target. The othe down side to a RMR for defense is if it is exposed to the rain and a drop gets on the emitter it will ghost an additional dot on your screen. There are a lot of downsides to the RMR which is why the resale on them are not great. If your dead set on trying one get use the mount that takes the place of your rear sight. Although a little higher at least you not regret milling your slide out.

Imho, self defense gun, don't do it. For a fun gun, absolutely do what makes you happy.

The stainless USP pistols are fairly rare. I would not do anything requiring machining to one.

Theyre not rare at all really, I picked one up new a couple months ago. I think they may have had a shortage a while back but my FFL's supplier had them in stock for both the 9mm and 45.

Not really rare, more uncommon as HK only does stainless runs when they feel like it, and did one in 2015. CA in its grand stupidity, has the compact stainless on roster, but FS stainless isn't.

Fullsize is too much beauty, it'll offend the uglier guns therefore it's unsafe and considered a disturbance in the Utopian PC Republik.
