If you have not seen it here is a well-known buyers guide https://www.1911addicts.com/threads/...1-addicts.511/

My choice is infinity single stack. Second (and cheaper) choice is Guncrafter.

But when you start climbing northwards of $3000, then I would expect the very best materials to be used. Even Wilson admits that the MIM parts are not as hard as the tool steel parts in your post. If a gun using MIM parts can ever be considered the finest, then what would a gun using tool steel parts with equivalent build quality be considered as?

      Exactly!

Justifying the inclusion of MIM parts in a $3,000 1911 is analogous to Ferarri claiming they use vinyl apolstery instead of leather because leather is overkill. The bottom line is their bottom line. SA et al uses MIM parts because they're less expensive. Even if MIM is that good, in the 1911 world it still carries a stigma. If I want MIM parts in a 1911, I'll buy a RO, Kimber, Ruger, Colt, etc., and be content. However, when I buy a $1,500+ 1911, I want it to have tool steel parts! I want it to last 1.5 lifetimes!

I'm not saying WC is the best but for a semi-custom gun, it is very hard to beat for fit, finish, performance and pride of ownership.
I used to be like that till I spent more time on the other 1911s (a Wilson wad my first 1911, it has been sold) Personally I like the Pro or a LB more.

Ed Brown was meh for me.

A full custom pistol beats all of the above....but price reflects that.
