Another vote for Wilson. Ever since I got my CQB, the rest of my 1911 sit on the side. Such a smooth gun to rack almost as if it were on ball bearings.

The price you posted for a CQB seems really high. Earlier this year I bought a new in bag out of state CQB with extras(blended magwell, bulletproof ambi-safety, battle sights with tritium front)for $2685. Hard to believe a new CA model would be that much more.

After some research, all CA model Wilsons use MIM parts. In addition to the MIM parts, the models I was interested in also looked different in CA configuration and cost more. I decided to go with the Talon because the price to what you get is much better and supposedly the Talon does not use MIM parts. It looks like Wilson is interpreting the roster differently now per a WC rep and that is why they changed how CA pistols come.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I own/owned both Wilson and NHC and decided each has unique characteristics in the feel and shooting.

The Nighthawk GRP was the most accurate. The equivalent Wilson Combat CQB was the most smooth. IMO, the NHC have finesse where the WC is solid utilitarian. It was hard for me to pick a favorite and I chose to shoot them depending on how I felt that day. In the end it's a personal choice and I doubt you will be satisfied until you've owned a couple of each.

As to the construction of the Wilson, I've owned both late and early models of the CQB (I've got a 1999 built sub-1000 serial number on the market), and I can say that the early CQBs are much tighter feeling than the later models - both in assembly and shooting. I don't see much difference in function or accuracy, but the feel is definitely different.

At that price point, I'd choose a Wilson. I think Nighthawk makes nice guns, but Wilson is unmatched in terms of customer service and support should you ever need it.

The CQB also doesn't come with the magwell, has some minor internal differences, has some aesthetic differences on the slide and comes in only OD frame/Black slide. If the roster was not an issue, I would have bought a black on black CQB and at the same price point as the Talon. Regardless, I will enjoy the Talon and keep my eyes open for any roster changes or change of thought on Wilson's part about interpreting the law. The Tactical Elite is just too much more than the other two for me to reasonably justify the purchase.

Did you consider the Springfield Professional?

As for the two brands you mentioned, I have shot both. Both were very, very good. I agree with many others, that it probably comes down to how each one fits your needs.
