    An interesting day

Drove up to Bay area today with my wife. Had great pleasure met with two Calgunners, porkchop98 and Litespeeds, for FTF PPTs. All CZs, 4 of them.

The interesting parts is to figure out which FFL dealer to use. We went through 3 FFLs in the area. The transfers were taken care finally at J&R in Livermore.

    First FFL-- Mil-Spec

"We cannot do 4 PPTs at the same time.
    "Too busy."
    "May be a couple."
"Will take one staff 4 hours to do them all."
"You need to pay for 4 DROS"

Ok, I left. Maybe he doesn't uderstand what I'm trying to do.

    Second FFL-- Reeds

"You need to pay 4 DROS."
"Our storage policy is $100 per item if you don't pick up on the 10th or 11th day."

Wow, I don't live in town. That means $400 storage fee when I come back 2 weeks later on a Sunday to get them out of jail.

    Ok, I left.

    Third FFL-- J&R

Calgunner Litespeeds called them before we got there.

We got there at 1:30pm. A nice young lady put down her lunch immediately to help us out on PPTs, by the way, with big smiles. I forgot to ask her name.

    All paperworks were completed at 2:00pm. DROS + 4 CZs = $65.

    It is an interesting day.

Nice to hear about some decent folks actually being happy about doing what the law requires without complaint or extra fees.

    Don't forget the pics!
    Sorry, not sorry.

Great meeting you today fpharryc. I am glad we were able to find a place where we could all meet so you can complete your PPT and save some money on the DROS fee. Not too many places opened on Sundays.

J&R Sports Supply is a small shop that offers excellent customer service and has a good stock of inventory. Katrina was the person who helped us and she really knows her stuff.

The only shop that I would recommend in the South Bay is Metal Dog Tactical. They are just as efficient and organized as J&R. Unfortunately they are closed Sun and Mon.

Some ffls act like they are doing you a favor

I have had some FFLs here lie and say they are getting out of the business when I asked if I could order AR lowers. I have also seen an FFL here deny an elderly over weight woman and pistol because he didn't think she could handle a gun. That should be illegal.

If you are ever up here in the Mendocino, Fort Bragg area, ED's GUNS is the only place to go. Right here on Hwy 1. Real smooth and easy, and he is a nice guy.

Agree with Litespeeds. Unfortunately Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays are bad for transferring guns PPT as the good FFLs are closed. I have had good experiences with J&R as well as Metal Dog. RMB enterprises is g2g as well but only open M-F. Peter at MP arms is good as well, but you need an appointment first.

Sorry you had to drive around to find someone to do it right. it shouldnt be like that.
Im wondering .... with ppt transactions, I know DOJ get $25 and the ffl gets $10. But if you do multiple firearms (like OP) who gets the money?

When you do a PPT and if all sellers are there at the same time, a reputable FFL will put all the guns on one $25 DROS and charge $10 for each gun.

I think it's the FFL. The only reason why I think this, is that I was charged 75.00 for five handguns in one PPT transaction.

I do not understand why FFLs continue to hassle people over PPTs. I understand they don't make much money with it, but if I'm not already a customer of your shop, the only reason may ever stop by is to do a PPT. If it's an unpleasant experience, I may never come back.

Perhaps in their minds you won't come back regardless. It took a PPT to bring you there in the first place. Not that I agree with this, but maybe that is their thinking.

I'd of let her finish her lunch first. One FFL charged me full DROS on 2 long gun PPT from same seller. I never went back mainly because place is mainly geared toward mall ninjas which are type of stores that don't suit my needs plus I was taken advantage of.

What was even funnier though was shop had a pile of an obscure lever action round out of production for a while. He probably got it for free I paid $10 a box for it all. I sold some for $40-50 a box so I made a profit and got some free ammo. Always pays to do research on what you are selling.

J&R is such a great shop. Small family owned business.

Those are usually the best to deal with. [emoji41]

                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
