Good luck with it. It looks great but I'm not sure if I'd want one. Three unported inches is already just barely getting the bullets moving fast enough to penetrate and expand effectively and porting could in theory reduce terminal performance. If the 40 bucks too much then to me a soft-shooting unported 9mm loaded with 124gr HSTs is a better answer. I'll reserve judgement until someone posts chronograph and calibrated ballistic gel tests showing how the ported version compares with an unported Shield. On the other hand I like the sights.

I guess people are buying them for the improved trigger (sear) and/or the coolness factor...

I was more thinking for a 9mm and if they eventually wise up and make a .45.

If I remember correctly Buffalo Bore makes a +P .40 but I don't know if I would trust it since there is not a clear guideline to a +P in .40 . This according to what I have read on SAAMI pressure's.

Video also mentions 'lightening cuts" in the slide... thought the sidewalls on the shield were already so thin you weren't supposed to use a sight pusher to remove the sights for fear of cracking it.

I, for one, would not be interested in trying +P+ in that setup.

Afaik, ported one is not a recommended option for CCW

Nor are fiber optic sights.


Plus, I've seen lots of fiber optic front sights get charred or ruined quickly from ported barrels with ports behind the front sight.
