    New 586 is pretty

Hello everybody. Got my new S&W 586 . It's really nice . Just took the funky wood off it. I wanted to ask about a trigger job. Who do you think does the best S&W triggers? Has anybody used Bolsa gun smithing for a pistol? They worked on 2 of my Remington rifles. Rifles turned out cherry.

Try Alan Tanaka at AT Custom Gunworks. Besides being a wizard on the 1911, he also knows S&W revolvers...

Apex Tactical does a great action job on L frames.

Randy and Scott at Apex do arguably the best job out there on S&Ws.

I would certainly use them over Bolsa.

I had Trooper (Ken) Scott at Full Spectrum give my 686 some love. It shoots like a dream. So much so that the wife claimed it as her gun. I replaced the grips with Pachmars to make it a little softer in the hands too.

The 586 is a beautiful revolver. Post pictures please and tell us how it shoots. What is your impression other than wanting a trigger job? What is the trigger like now in both DA and SA? Do you want it lightened or smoothened?

I left my triggers stock but have wondered what I'm missing with a trigger job. From reading Calguns and other forums, the above mentioned gunsmiths are usually mentioned.

Does it really need a trigger job?

                Have you shot it yet?

My respectful suggestion would be get a couple of hundred of rounds downrange, then decide if you want to do a trigger job.

                Good Luck.

The 586 is a nice revolver, shoot the snot out of it before you decide you need a trigger job. Smiths are pretty nice triggers in stock form.

The wood on mine is awesome. Nice color and pattern. Gonna keep it.

If it's new, how much have you fired it. The trigger should get a bit better with more rounds. Unless you're looking for something comletely different.

                        YMMV

Congrats on the new 586! I was admiring one on display at RifleGear recently. Smith is putting a nice deep blue on the guns again, making them beautiful IMHO, just dont look at the "lock".....Whatever gunsmith you use, see it they will remover the "lock" and plug the hole...

                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
