    Ruger LC 380 CA

    Hey there Calgunners,

Just wanted to share with you guys a recent purchase. The Ruger LC 380 CA is on the approved DOJ

roster, and here are some specs as well as photos showing size in case anyone is interested in one.

Stay safe and best wishes - Greg

The pistol was about $400 new for me, and it came with a free lasermax. The pistol only comes with one magazine, and it seems like mags are about $30-40. Anyone looking at these pistols or curious about them have a look and any questions are welcome.

    Caliber .380 Auto
    Capacity 7+1
    Barrel Length 3.1"
    Overall Height 4.5 "
    Overall Length 6.0"

Give us a range report when you can, I was looking at this for my wife. Also, is the laser sight removable or permanently installed?

    Thanks!

Make sure your wife tries it out first, that trigger pull is hard and long.

Hammer fired Lc9 are getting dirt cheap in the marketplace... Ruger shoulda done $100 barrel/recoil spring kits instead of complete slides

What would stop you from buying an LC 9 barrel, spring and guide rod maybe. Or did Ruger make sure that won't work?

My gal just scored one of these....

Unless the mag well is long enough for 9mm's that might be a problem...

The 380 just uses a spacer in the regular 9mm magazines.

The laser is removable. It sandwiches around the front and bottom of the trigger guard.

                    OP,

how well would you say the magazine is ejecting from the well?

                    Any problems?

This, the lc380 and lc9 are basically the same gun with different magazine and barrel...

Doubletap, nothing would stop you from just buying the barrel but as far as I know ruger won't sell a barrel, you have to ship the gun to them to have new barrel fitted... So that leaves you buying their conversion kit... I was just saying a barrel swap (like a glock can do) would've been more affordable and practical...

No biggie for me I already have a lc9 and that's why I'm questioning why anyone would pay so much for a gun very few people liked for the $359 they were originally... They aren't much...

Well, it is the only ruger semi-auto still in production, and on the roster. For some, I guess that's the primary draw. Otherwise, I, too, don't know why Ruger didn't just relist the 9mm.

Then again, given how contrived this relaunch has been, I'd venture they no longer have the ability to make the LC9 in CA-spec (not to mention, it has been replaced by the LC9s - striker version). It would make for a confusing product lineup. That being said, I'm curious if the LC9 conversion slide has the CA CLI/LCI, or does it just have the modern Ruger peephole?

Are you sure the breech face is the same on the 9 as the 380?
