I've noticed the smaller an automatic gets the less reliable it is generally.

Disassemble, clean off with gun scrubber to get all the factory gunk out of it. Lightly oil with Remoil, fire a few hundred rounds more through it. If it is still having problems call up Ruger.

Edit: The sights probably aren't off. I have the same problem with sub compact pistols (especially j-frames in double action with a similarly long pull) that your trigger squeeze pulls the gun high and off target. For me it usually impacts a little high and left with a pocket rocket. Try a few different finger positions on the trigger until you find one that has you shooting on.

I've had my LC380 for about a year and a half. It came with two mags and I bought two more from Ruger. I had problems with the original two mags not dropping. I now have over 600 rounds through it.

Early on, I called their Customer Svc and told them about the problem and they had me send the gun & one mag back to them. They checked it out and replaced the magazine release button and the mag and assured me that it was now working perfectly. First trip to the range and the same problem occurred - mag won't drop freely - I have to actually pull the mags out after all the rounds are fired. None of the mags drop freely at this time.

It does have a very long trigger pull but the recoil is light and managable.

The gun is quite accurate at small gun distances. I've shot Winchester WB, American Eagle, PMC, Remington, and Perfecta FMJ ammo through it and it seems like prefer the PMC ammo. I've only had a couple of FTF problems with it and it was the Perfecta ammo. I've fired Critical Defense & Rem. Golden Sabre JHP ammo through it with no problems.

Mostly, I keep the LC380 at home for my wife to use as a HD gun. I carry one of my 9s when I leave the house.

Ruger caught me by surprise with that one. Thought it was the LCP380, found out it wasn't after I ordered one. Lucky I sold it before I got it.

I do like the conversion to 9mm kit coming out.

I only have one 380 and is my only gun that is really picky with ammo.

I have noticed that since the big ammo crisis, i have had more issues with factory ammo. .45 that are weak and wont lock slides back. 9mm s that are mangled up. 38s with cockeyed bullets and kinked rims. And 380 with loose crimps and primers that sticj out.

I have a box of my own rejects somewhere, and it has grown considerably in the last few years.

i have an LC9 and i LOVE this gun. at first i coudlnt shoot it worth a damn because of the long DA) trigger pull but with practice i got the groupings down to something more respectable.

Now to address the OP. I was having similar issues with mine. mainly the slide not locking back on last round. I asked a gentleman next to me to fire it (loaded 2 rounds at a time in the mag for 3 mags) and he got it to lock all three times. I learned that it my was me and not the gun. he himself was shooting a super compact Berreta bobcat in 22lr. which btw was a UBER NICE GUN.



anyhow he told me its my grip and after i watched his grip i took over and sure enough i got it to lock back on my 1st, 3rd and 6th try. It took some practicing and i still havent perfected it but im getting there. I dont have a problem with standard sized guns but these compact ones im guessing a differant tighter grip is necessary.

Yeah, that same day I was running Fiocchie through my Colt Commander and I was shocked to have one failure to eject. A bit disconcerting.

I'm hoping this experience was just an anomaly of sorts...

Had the same mag drop problem with mine. Found that loading to capacity -1 cured the problem. In other words, load to capacity, remove one cartridge, and see if the mag drops free for you.

I'll explore that for sure. But what I will share is that most mag changes occur once the mag is empty. It would be in this status dropping a mag efficiently would be most critical...

I will try your idea though.
