SIG SAUER (Frame broke)P226 scorpion

My sig sauer P226 elite grip screws, decocking lever, magazine catch stop takedown lever, slide catch lever started to rust because it's concealed carried so I disassembled my weapon and Duracoated the parts. Reassembled my weapon and was depressing the magazine catch and releasing under spring tension and the magazine catch stop broke through the frame taking out a chunk of frame, was 1/16" thick (Way too thin) I called sig sauer warranty because of the lifetime warranty and they said they will not cover it. And we do not sell frames. It was on the California list with the ugly loaded chamber indicator

They just lost my business for life and a few friends as well!!!

I just switched it over to left hand or I can use my index finger to release the mag.

Kind of wonder if they even Anodize the frame since the examples of Scorpions I seen seems to be cerakoted/duracoated.

If it was the off roster version, they could not replace it even if they wanted to.

What was their reason for not covering it under warranty? I'm a big Sig defender, when it comes to their customer service, but I would say they need to fix that.

They told me that was not a manufactures defect. And I've found out that it's happened to other sig pistols before

Generally, when this kind of damage occurs it's because someone installed the magazine catch stop backwards and tried to force the catch out after realizing the mistake. Not saying you did this, but it may be why they're hesitant to fix it on their dime.

That is such an odd place for the frame to break...

I wonder if that could be TIG welded and finished back to original profile with hand tools? ..... would require re-coating as well of course.

the frame didn't fail during operation under fire, it was broken during reassembly..

I would consider it foolish for any manufacture to cover owner inflicted damage of that nature..

also not fair to blame sig for lci, roster issues, etc.. they're just following.....

sad to see your attitude towards sig tarnished over your own mistake, but good luck with whatever other brand(s) you decide to go to

Count on it. If the frame has to be replaced on an off roster pistol (or on roster for that matter) it will have a different serial no. No way to re DROS an off roster frame with a new serial.
