He could certainly do it, but something tells me $3500 doesn't scratch the surface of a Jardine custom 1911

These days it wouldn't even buy the SIG Sauer P210 Legend I was going to recommend..

A finely tuned 1911 in 9mm is going to be hard to beat for accuracy, but that means taking a production gun, having a barrel / bushing properly fitted to it and trigger work done. The current production 1911's are full of MIM parts you would want to replace as well. It can be done for under $3500 but wouldn't be an off the shelf thing.

Almost every Sig I've ever shot had the best accuracy out of my other 9 mm pistols (STI, Glock, S&W M&P...), but they don't fit my hand very well so I don't keep them. I know it sounds weird that guns that don't fit me have the best accuracy, but that speaks even more if you think about it.

Within a given distance, with my hand loads, my Makarovs with its fixed barrel will dance around my other modern 9s, even with their tiny, tiny fixed sights.

All that being said, I would pick a Sig you like and go with it.

Any suggestions on which 9mm to buy. I am looking for a gun that shoots less than 2" groups at 50 yards. Can spend up to $3,500. Having to contend with the CA roster, it limits my choices. So far, I am thinking the Sig X5 might do it. Also the older Sig P210 on the C&R list.

$1000 - Springfield Loaded Target 9mm 1911
$100 - Fitted EGW Bushing, one piece guide rod, and guide rod plug. Barrel link if necessary.
$40 - Dawson Precision Fiber Optic Front Sight
$1500+ - Dillon 650 and necessary support equipment
$100 - Competition Electronics Chronograph
$60 - 1000 k 147g Hardcast Truncated Cone bullets sized to match the barrel, slugging will be necessary.
$30 - 1000 Federal Small Pistol Primers
$25 - 1 lb of VV N320, Win 231, HP-38, Titegroup, or Universal Clays
$Free - 9mm Range brass.

A cz ts will NOT cost $2500. Base is about $1200-1300 and out of the box, the trigger is fantastic, it's not gritty like other un-broken-in CZ triggers. It has all the goods out of the box.

A 2011 in 9mm, if you can find one ... but then might as well go 1911
Don't know anything about Sigs, probably one will meet your criteria
