Any new firearm I run factory ammo & sometimes many different brands to function test the reliability of said firearm. Sucks breaking in a new gun and a problem arises & you can't pinpoint if it's gun, mag or ammo related. Take care of the varriences straight off and you can save yourself some headaches & ammo.

Custom trigger? I feel like mine should be slightly lighter. Feels like too much travel for some reason.

Where'd ya get those flathead screws for the grips? I hate TORX screws.
Lol I just put in a C&S short trigger. The standard/long 1911 triggers are no bueno for my small, girly hands.

My girp screws are C&S as well...I think I picked them up from MidwayUSA. They have a lot of brands to pick from and they're cheap.

I might have to look into that. Thank you.

Just picked up my MC Operator over the weekend, can't wait to pick it up.. But do anyone know where I can find a local gun shop or gunsmith in the Stockton/Sac area that do front strap checkering.. I'd love to send it to SA Custom shop, but that's my last resort...

I have an Op, MC Op, and the Pro should be coming home on Wednesday. My "first family" serves me much better than the one in DC.

How would the MC Operator compare to the Kimber TLE II?

I've had my eye on the MC Operator for a couple years now, and I was able to purchase one out the door for 1300 even. (the two they had in the back had a couple flaws, but the display model looked and felt just fine)

People say the magazines jam... the clerk told me that due to the folded part getting bent in too far from repetitive loading, as with any .45 ACP magazine. True statement?

From owners of this handgun, are there any suggestions or links that you would suggest i take note of? Replacement parts, spare parts etc?

Also, I noticed the Pachmayr grips tend to stretch a bit on the torx screw heads, being that its a wrap-a-round design.
I have my eye on the American Legend Grip. I felt it on an Kimber Custom Target II and they were phenomenal.

I've shot a SA 1911 Loaded and I LOVED it. Mainly the look of the rail and the 'tool less' stripping and the little subtle features of the MC version had me sold.
That, and I'm left handed and right eye dominant, the slide release safety etc had to feel perfect.

                            Very happy with my purchase!
Pics to come when I pick her up!

                            *Edit:

Should I stick to manufactured rounds for now? Or would I be fine shooting reloads for the break in period?

Anyone use/heard of these guys? -Reloaded Ammo
                            These guys look convincing too.

very nice...my nephew bought on and now i am interested in getting one.

Side by side the two are pretty similar.

The Kimber has front strap checkering which is nice, but in my experience not as nice a trigger as a stock Springfield. Pretty close though.

I think the finish on the Kimber might be a bit more durable than the black on the Operator's slide. But again a small difference.

Springfield's customer service is top notch, people have had mixed experiences with Kimber. There are some people who experience rusting on their Kimber barrels, myself included. It was pretty minor and a brillo pad took care of it.

Springfield uses a true Series 70 design while Kimber employs the Swartz Safety.

I picked one up last week. I'm going to use is as a test bed to see how close I can get it to a custom gun without hiring a gunsmith to do the work. I've already added a Smith & Alexander 1 piece MSH / magwell and have ordered some other upgrades. The trigger on my gun sucks, so that will be an area I concentrate on.
