I tried the Shield first. Meh.

Originally wanted the Walther PPS but could never find one in any of the stores to handle and dry fore because it wasn't on the stupid roster. At least the XDS 45 gave me an idea of what the Springfield was like, so I got the 9mm.

My Shield hasn't seen the light of day in months. Lol Springfield all the way! Let the haters hate!

XDS is way better then a Shield. Buy what you want. Look in the marketplace

Had an XDS 4.0 bi-tone in 9mm. Great looking gun, super soft shooting, very easy to shoot even with stock trigger. The factory sights with fiberoptic front are excellent. Versatile configurations with the 7-round and, now, 8-round mags. The 9-rounders made the grip a little longer than necessary for me.

Even though it has a lot going for it, I just never warmed up to it and ended up selling it.

To Spencer: Quiet already mentioned the ways you can get an XDS in California. I can't think of any other ways.

The only thing negative about the XDS is the weight. The XDS 9mm 3.3" weighs 23oz empty: The Glock 26 weighs under 22oz empty.

There is also some rough spots on the grip. The "XDS" logo should have been recessed. The edges of the "X" rub against my thumb which is annoying. There is also a raised section just below the thumb indent. It is sharp and rubs against my thumb.

I really like my 4.0" XDS 9mm, but I may eventually sell it and get a Glock 19. I chose the XDS over the Shield. The Glock 43 wasn't out before the SSE ended.
