I like my USP .45, but my favorite handgun I own is still my G17C gen3.

      HK.

If it matters, Springfield is having a gear up deal from now till end of year. 2 mags, mag holster and range bag with any new pistol purchase.

Versatility is the key. A G23 is still superior with swappable barrels. Now look at your G19 in shame. SHAME ON YOUR ONE TRICK PONY!

I have Glock, Walther, S&W, Ruger and I only shoot/own polymers. I "use" to be a GLock guy, but they grew stagnant in design, added functions (dual mag release, backstrap removal, actual safety switches) and mostly ergonomics IMHO (they have improved slightly). I have become very happy with the Walther brand.

When all these guys recommend Glocks, are they referring to the ones that have lost their front sight, or the ones that are going to lose their front sights?

Then HK had the brilliant idea to jack the price up from $500 to $750 (even more today) and market the USP as "tactical." Then everyone and their brothers started buying USPs, proclaiming them superior in every way to Glocks.

They definitely are, in two categories: Price and girth. Other than that, I would say it's personal preference. And I've owned plenty of polymers, too.
THIS! ^^^^ Many think that paying more means better performance. For BMW and Porsche it is true. And you do pay for it. But with HK, it's a marketing strategy. They are prettier than Glocks, and that's where it ends. I love HK quality, but they're not worth 9 bills. Until they come out with a new P9s or P7, they can keep selling the plastics to other people. As for myself and many I know, we won't pay more than 6 bills for a plastic. Glock perfected it, Smith refined it with the M&P, Springfield, the great American company just pissed off legions with a foreign made offering with the Croatia thing, and HK swooped in and tried to sell a giant gun on the German made kicker. My hat's off to them, they're making a killing. And HK laughs all the way to the bank.

For ccw purposes: 6 months ago I would've said anything glock, but I'm really loving my kahr pm40... Much smaller and easier to carry than my g27, very we'll built firearm IMO

                  For HD purposes: still glock!

Love my Glock 22, the best? No. But versitile, you can shoot 40, 357 sig with a barrel change and 9mm with a barrel and a mag change. Also there are 22 kits out there. Best I think for around 1k would probly be the strike one pistol, not sure if you can get one in ca but there's always a way.

What are you talking about? Who uses the original front sight? Aftermarket sights have no such issue

Having shot a strike one it doesn't do anything extra vs a quality polymer pistol. It comes with tons of drawbacks in aftermarket support and fixed rear sight.

This was going to be my last SSE until I shot it...meh...

Don't get me wrong. USPs are good guns. I used to own an HK USP 40F bitone. That sucker was accurate. I was also issued a USP 40F for work.

Nevertheless, it gets old seeing comments trying to justify the price difference between HK and other polymer offerings on the market. Inevitably, subjective terms like "build quality" and "tolerances" get thrown out, and you feel like you're watching a car commercial. (This is assuming we are comparing apples to apples, of course. USP to Glock. The higher end HK plastic offerings are more fairly compared to tricked out guns.)

To your average shooter, how a gun fits is very important. If the HK fits you and you shoot it better than Brand X, fantastic. That's all that matters. It's worth the price difference just for that. But save the car commerical spiel, eh? Some of us have been around long enough to know it's just marketing.

I now know why the HK has a price premium over the Glock. The HK just feel more solid and tight like a wet seal. The HK is like a Porsche and the Glock is like a Toyota.

My idea of the best polymer pistol is a Glock with the grip of the S&W M&P.

That's basically achieved with any M&P and an Apex polymer trigger kit.
