SonofWWIIDI hosts a monthly Reeds meet-up. Come out for the next one and get to know the community, try a few things, and maybe learn a thing or two:

For every $1 spent on a firearm, you should spend $2 training with it.

Stay safe and stay legal. You can't protect your family from within a prison cell.

What led you to narrow it down to Glock and Beretta? What did you like? Dislike?

haha wait til you mod one of them. My SP01 with Cajun goodies is referred as the "stupid gun" by one of my friends that I let shoot my HGs....stupid accurate as F, stupid easy to shoot fast. He was leaning on copying my p226, but the CZ force has pulled him in......easy when I have 4 CZ and one lonely sig to play with with.

OK a little help here! I cannot decide what Gun to send to CGW first the SP-01 or the 97B. Yeah I know that I could just Bite the bullet and send both but the Wife would be less than pleased if I put out over $1000.00 for what she calls tweaks!!

I would definitely suggest going to an indoor range and renting several handguns before making a decision. I recently saw a CZ that had a nice feel.

I did the SP01 myself, used a few good tuts found here and on CZ forums, some Utube vid for walk through on some parts. I will likely send off the 97b to get the bushing machine work done to 1911 style one day, I can't do that myself, so leave it to the wizards at CGW.

DIY install of CGW parts were like $320ish for the trigger/action work, $90 sights and $65 hogue G10 piranha...IMO well worth it. Including cost of the gun, its still cheaper and easier than trying to buy a SP01 shadow in this fine state. I can't really imagine the single action trigger light than what I have with the FPB removed in the shadows. CZC can accurize bushing the SP01 slide for another $350 as well. But my copy is accurate enough for me.

At this point, I'm enjoying feed it as much ammo I can make and building a holster rig for the range. I'm also enjoying the singleaction of the stock 97b. Sights have allot to be desired....I'll get to that sooner than later.

Glock and Beretta both make a high quality, reliable firearm. You can't go wrong with either so it really comes down to personal preference. It's a bit apples and oranges though given one is polymer striker fired and the other is SA/DA steel. Both great guns but a significantly different shooting experience between the two.

The G configuration on the Beretta is most certainly the way to go (decocker only, no safety). And if you buy it, you can send it off to Wilson Combat for them to work their magic on...if you are so inclined. They do fantastic work...albeit not cheap. If you're looking at the Beretta 92G, a Sig P226 might be the closest comparable in the "full size, all steel, SA/DA category." The P226 is also a fantastic option and worth looking at for comparison sake.

For the Glock, a Smith and Wesson M&P would be a very close equivalent if you're looking for something to compare it to. Also a fine firearm.

And if you trying to make up your mind, go to the range and rent them. You'll sort more out in an hour or so than anything any of us can tell you.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

If you're still stuck after that, you'll have a lot of topics to debate between:
                    -DA/SA Hammer vs Striker

                        Glock 19 or 17 for sure. I have a Glock 23 which I love.

Shoot them first before you make a purchase. Don't blindly buy something and be stuck with it. Buy something that you're comfortable shooting.
