I'd go with standard 7 round mags.

I prefer the 7 round myself, and in the market for 7-round mags.

Not sure about this. Many handguns can use extended magazines and they come handy in two situations: (1) range time when working on shooting (not reloading) and (2) for carry guns, as spare magazines.

For carry, it's convenient to have standard magazine not print, then have the extra capacity after reload. Of course, we are talking about "little extra" capacity because those supersized magazines often have feeding problems.

I'd probably get three 10 rounders to keep loaded in my house. 8 rounders for the range.

New Sig Owner here by the way, went with the P220.

I have 8 & 10 rounds and it is nice to have that extra 2 rounds at the range or for HD.

I have a German Sig P220 with two 7 round mags. I hear to much stuff about aftermarket mags (promags) having issues. It seems like awhile back Midway had a discount on Sig factory 8 round mags, damn near 2 for the price of 1 if I remember right. I should have pounced as the Sig factory 8 round mags are not cheap...

7 round mags seem a bit harder to find and cost more I have seen them on the auction sites. I just use the factory 8 round ones. I've even seen the real early 7 round mags intended for the early models that had a Euro style mag release.

No idea what Sig was thinking discontinuing the 7-rounders, they are perfect for carry if people prefer to carry a P220.

Avoid the ProMags at all cost...unless you just want mags to practice failure drills.

This isn't hype. I have 4 8rd and 2 10rd ProMags that were given to me when they failed during a class. I've been experimenting with different followers and springs to get them to work...they won't

Are your 7rd mags the dovetail ones

                      ...or the zipper back ones?

I had a promag for my p220 that could not feed an entire magazine without at least one round nosediving. It got tossed.

Mine are the dovetail ones. My German Sig P220 I bought new back in 1998. I have run all flavors of 45 ACP ammo (my reloads and factory loads). This pistol has not a failure of any kind. It has been 100% reliable, quite remarkable...

whether intentional or not, it is very common for American style mags to be misrepresented as euro mags on the online auction circuit.
