Please Identify this Colt Automatic 22lr Pistol.

Is this a Colt Woodsman? Doesn't say the model on it. Just that is is made by Colt and is chambered in 22lr.

My co-workers husband passed away a few years ago and left behind this handgun. She would like to know more about it. Most importantly, what model it is.

I don't know much about the various Colt handguns. Looked like a Woodsman to me, but I wanted to be absolutely certain.

Additionally, once we identify the model is there anyway to determine when it was made? Maybe a chart showing the serial numbers and when they were manufactured? I've seen charts like that for other guns.

Any idea on the value? She plans on giving it to her police officer son. But did ask what it is worth.

a unique find. with the short barrel, that pistol should be marked woodsman just in front of the slide on the left side.

Or it may be a "Huntsman". Both were typically marked on left side of frame ahead of slide.

It's a bit of an enigma. Frame says pre 1927, but barrel says post 1933.

Yet the first year for the 4 1/2" barrel was 1933 according to Colt advertising.

Definitely deserves further research.
