When it comes to the old deep, rich blued model Pythons I "get it" completely but I have no clue why the stainless models command such high prices.

^^^ Not sure what you meant. Are you saying that Colt Python stainless finish is better than the finish on the 686 pre-lock?

"Blueing" is a finish. None better than the old Pythons & S&Ws. But "Stainless" is a material, not really a finish. Not hard to make it look brand new again.

Eventually it will be hard to find one under $1000 bucks. So, for me trying to find a gun like this I wouldn't have any troubles spending an extra 100 or so bucks if it was real clean.

The selling price will be more useful to the discussion than the asking price.

They want $550 for a gen 3 Glock 23. You can buy those all day long for $500, new at your local gun store.

The 686s are nice guns but $1,000?

For sure.....not sure what I want to do, but IF I sell it then I will not remove the price from the listing as so many do.

That is your choice but it is completely fine to remove the price from a sold item. That info is between the seller and buyer, sharing it with others is helpful, but optional.
