    FNX - Soft Plastic

The FNX and or the FNX Tactical was one of my unicorns. But after watching this youtube video of how soft it is, well. no.

    What do you guys think?

Dustin Ellerman, Winner of Top Shot Season 3, posted this video of his FNX Tactical. It had been sitting out in the Texas heat, and the polymer grip became pliable.I am not concerned about the grip, but the more important part of the frame, like the slide rails.

I think it's the internet and it's just as likely they held a heat gun on that thing to make a video that will get a zillion hits and get 1911 guys wet and goo-y about how plastic guns suck rabble rabble.

I would like to see a follow up of what FN said about it/ warranty claim. If my gun did that it woukd be taking a trip to the manufacturer.

I just picked up a FNX 45 Tactical FDE and it doesn't have that issue.

          Dupe

As I mentioned in the other thread, I have an FNX-45 FDE in jail as we speak. I will offer some actual feedback when I get it and range test it. I am not concerned about this video, TBH.

That why I have a k2 polymer melts easier than steel.

I got fnx45 in all black and I love it. Shoots accurate and 100% reliable. And for those outta state 15+1 in 45acp. I don't care what youtube says. Guns excellent.

I have an FN9 which was my first gun, when I attach a light and shoot the heck out of it, it will jam after a while as the light pulls on the rail, it is the most accurate gun, aside of the above noted situation, even when 500 rounds in a row, it has never jammed, so I don't use it with a light, though it should be noted I never had the same problem with the FNX 45, its much bigger brother.

Some urbanite yuppie with an FN pistol is going to have a panic attack after seeing this video. He will definitely be worried about the pistol's reliability in extreme environments, even though his FN only sees the light of day in an indoor range 100 rounds a year.

so far this seems to be an isolated incident. people over at the FN forums were all concerned about it but nobody else seems to be having this issue. most likely some out of spec, undried plastic was used to produce that frame.

Find my write-up in this thread as to why I thought the FNX45 was one of the biggest pieces of crap that I've owned....soft polymer was definitely part of it. I had an FNS later that I swear was different/stiffer polymer.

I had an FNX45t in FDE. Loved it but sold it. The plastic was a bit soft.

                              I have an FNX 45.

It is an excellent gun. I would carry it as a side arm. I would trust my life with it. I would buy again.

FNX 45 & a SCAR 17s compliment each other very well.
