This ROCK Rocks!

OP, are you a new shooter with limited experience with guns? I've heard some of the more seasoned shooters here on Calguns saying the Rock Island guns are starter guns for beginners. This Rock is mechanically capable of the accuracy I showed via pics above. Its slide-to-frame fit may not be the tightest; its barrel-to-barrel bushing fit may not be the tightest; its slide-to-barrel bushing fit may not be the tightest; it may have the rollmarks that some may consider hideous; it may not be the best looking 1911; it may not be that "heirloom quality" gun... but hey, it is one fine shooting 1911. And if one considers its price on top of that, then it is just an amazing buy... Wow!
I have the same gun you have and I've never confused the price of the gun with it's accuracy or reliability.Comment

^^^LOL, very true. I have seen many of those recommendations.
I consider myself a more informed shooter/owner now. Still needs quite a bit of seasoning though

Nice! Always good news when somebody enjoys their latest purchase. I think the part behind the trigger had as much to do with the excellent results as the parts in front it. Very nice shooting. Nice gun too.Comment

^^^The mag catch, the grips and the MSH, among other things?
Kidding aside, thank you very much for the kind words. One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale

hey OP- you need these grips now to honor our mother and adopted country. Thanks for sharing. You can buy it at stingerpaintballdesigns.com
I am thinking of getting it to honor our ancestry and to pay tribute to the
best country in the world. Thank you U.S.A.!

you guys could go in halves, and each put one of each flag grip on your guns... Seriously, though, I put double diamond checkered grips on mine, just like the OP. I have some real WWII brown plastic grips, and have been toying with the idea of putting those on.Comment

I've read a while back that Armscor, maker of the RIAs passed the ISO 9003 or something like that with " flying colors ". Don't really know exactly what that means..... and thereafter, whenever I go to my LGS I would check out all the RIAs.
They really are astounding when it comes to fitting. Its a far cry when they were new and just getting noticed.
Congrats OP!Comment

Thanks guys!
@pdaddy: That is a cool idea! Functionality-wise, however, probably not so much. To me at least, as I don't like smooth grips. The current double diamond checkered grips actually came with the gun together with the original smooth grips. Thank goodness as I would have swapped out the smooth grips right away. For picture taking though, the grips you mentioned are definitely cool. I will still check the website out. Thanks. One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale

I'm normally a Double Diamond kind of guy for my 1911's too.
I did however get some Raasco Half Tactical grips. I really like them. Check them out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using TapatalkYes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

OP, that is some awesome shooting!
Looks like that RIA is a keeper, for sure!
I love the look of the WWII brown plastic grips. IMHO, nothing beats those grips for giving a Rock that authentic, GI 1911 look:
