LOVE my DW PM7-45; obviously you need to make your own choice!
    Good luck with YOUR decision!

Couldn't hang with the front strap checkering on the SA. Too aggressive. It could serve as a meat tenderizer in a pinch. It was uncomfortable in my dainty hands just holding it.

They had a SA Target Stainless for $999 that truthfully left very little to be desired compared to the DW. I don't think I would have been disappointed.

Went with the DW because YOLO...

So the new PM7 has front strap checkering. They TOLD me the DW in the case was 10% off because of some handling marks on the matte finish.

Somebody might be getting a good deal on an unfired PM7.

A bit more custom fit goes into the PM7 than the Trophy Match from what I understand. The OEM MSH which fits very snug on my PM7(replaced with Ed Brown's Maxiwell) for example fits very loose on my dad's Gold Cup. You can also see filing marks and matching serial number meaning that the MSH has been hand fitted to that specific pistol. Not only that but the grip safety also had matching serials and the thumb safety has some hand fitting done, as well as matching serials(or last 2 numbers).

          Dan Wesson

I had 2 PM-7, ended up selling both...had sellers remorse, now I have Valor, VBOB, and CCO.

I personally like the SA, but I'm biased after having owned many SA 1911.

PM-7. PM-7's did not used to come with front checkering, I guess they do now. Wear a shooting glove...

It's only 25lpi which isn't bad. I have shot a steel challenge match with my PM9 and my office hands were fine afterwards lol

I didn't get to compare the exact models but the match between a PM9 and a SA RO is night and day in terms of fit and finish, followed by accuracy. Dan Wesson internals are very clean, smooth and well put together. Slide to frame fit on the DW is great, and you'll need to spend twice as much for the next level of craftsmanship.

SA makes great guns but it's much like saying that Honda makes great cars including the Acura line of products, but a Mercedes is a Mercedes.

I have the PM7 and the SA Target in 9mm. The trigger pull on the DW is far better out of the box than the SA. The SA can be cleaned up, which is what I did, but "out of the box" the PM7 is better.

I prefer the finish of the PM7 to the SA, it's more a bare, brushed metal type than the SA. Just a matter of taste on that one I suppose.

                    Each has been equally reliable.

Worlds of difference between the SA's 20 LPI & the DW 25 LPI checkering. I can't really believe the 20 would be much $$$ saving over the 25. I don't respond tactically in a tactical manner & I'm too old & fat to be an operator so wearing tactical gloves isn't really on.

I'f I don't sell/trade the PM7 I might just have the checkering done & have 'em flatten & serrate the top of the slide as well.

If you have the front strap checkered, you could have a blank mainspring housing added. That way the same person that checkers the front strap can checker the mainspring to match.
