    CZ slide racker

hi guys.. a coworker of mine just got his HSC card and really like shooting the CZ. one problem though.. he has very sweaty palm.

i remember seeing a CZ slide racker like this.. but i think it's only for the TS. not sure if it will work with the 75B he's looking to get.

anyone know if alternatives mounts that he can use to help rack the slide?

i suppose another alternative is to find a nail in the same diameter as the roll pin in the slide and put duct-tape or something around nail sticking out as a handle.

nah.. he prefer to train without gloves.. afterall this is going to be his HD gun and i doubt he'll have time to put on gloves before racking the slide.

anyone know what's the diameter of the rolled pin in the slide? don't have my CZ with me in my cubicle..

If its for HD, shouldn't the handgun be racked already...cocked and locked with safety on. Or racked, decocked and ready for DA?

guest1: yea he's new to pistol. i would agree it should be cocked and locked with safety on. but guess everyone is different.

A couple of "tips" on racking the slide. First, you may want to manually cock the hammer first. This will make racking the slide a bit easier.

The second tip is to grasp your support hand along the top of the slide but to make sure you have a good purchase with your support hand. It's sort of like this picture (http://thewellarmedwoman.com/image/d...ide%201web.jpg) , except have your support hand closer to the center of the slide, and possibly with your support thumb grasping the rear serrations. The picture shows a grasp that doesn't fully have a good purchase.

With your strong hand, wrap your hand around the pistol grip (index finger out of the trigger please =) ), and use your strong hand to "push" the frame forward, and just have your support hand holding the slide firm.

i agree. my coworker took the beginner pistol class from reeds.. he opted for the all 3 day training which is very good for him.

but i was surprise when he didn't know what racking the slide meant, until he told me the slide was locked back at all times during the class. so all the student needed to do was pop in the mag and drop the slide stop and start to shoot.

i would think the instructors would've taught them how to rack the slide...

He should probably grow some balls, with some hairy palms for traction.
He could also learn how to rack a slide...

What about adding some grip tape along the sides and top of the slide?

I'm sure you can find it cheaper at a local skate shop, but here's one $5.00 shipped and more than enough for the application:

I have big hands and sausage fingers and thought the slide was a bit more difficult than my 1911 to rack. Put some in some practice time, and I have no problem racking as it is now.

actually have him get some sturdy rear sights that he can rack the slide with
