I just came back from the Phoenix gun show this past weekend, the least expensive Python there is $2200 in worst condition. This should worth around $2200-2500 (remember CA premium). Those original wood grips looks brand new, they worth at least $300 by themselves.

I recently paid $1500 for one in slightly worse condition and I felt like I stole it. I feel like yours is easily a $1700-2000 gun.

Im laughing at all of the folks valuing it at 1200.00, how many PMs have they sent you offering 1300.00 out of the kindness of their hearts? As absurd as it is, you guys know damn well that if he put it in the for sale section at 1200.00 it'd be gone in five minutes. The California market and gunbroker market are two different beasts.

My guess on the market/replacement value would be 1800.00 - 2200.00 depending on the rifling, lockup, and any rust not shown in the pictures.

Congrats OP! She's a beauty. I'd put her price at $1500 - 1800 minimum. As others have said above the current market would probably make $2000 seem reasonable as a value.

If you shoot it, take it easy on the full house .357 loads. Not saying that the Python can't handle them but with a former LEO as an owner it may have seen quite a few rounds already and the list of gunsmiths who will work on Colt revolvers grows smaller by the day.

I tried to thread jack the other one but didn't get much response. I made a trade for this shooter. It was a police officers duty weapon years ago. It has holster wear around the tip of the barrel. It shoots straight and the trigger is perfect. The grips aren't in the best shape, but it came with 2 additional grips a custom set and a set of old pachmires in the box. Any Python experts that can give their 2 cents.

I said 1500.00 but will retract that. I sold this shooter about a month ago for 2000.00 it could have brought more but the hammer and trigger had been jeweled.So I have to say yours would bring 1800.00 to 2000.00 and most likely more if they just got to have it........

I have to differ with you, the stocks look nowhere near brand new-chipped finish, chipped wood at the screw and we don't see a photo of the butt which is usually the area of most destruction. Your estimated value isn't far off in today's market, probably $200 to $250 would be more reasonable.
Just about a year and a half ago I bought an absolutely flawless NOS set of walnuts for $400. Took off the factory supplied black rubber Pachmayrs and never looked back.
OP, the good news is that there is a fellow who goes by the handle of "swamprat" (I believe he's in Texas)over on coltforum.com. He performs restoration miracles on Python stocks. One of his best resurrections that I have seen were before and after photos of a set of Python walnuts that someone earlier on took a rasp to the checkering and all that was left was a very smooth and faint diamond pattern impression. swamprat carefully cut all of the surrounding wood back just deep enough to re-emerge and re-cut the sharp checkering then refinished to Colt's specs!
Getting your stocks back to original factory condition would be a walk in the park for swamprat.

In 1979, I walked into B&B Guns in North Hollywood and bought a six inch blue Python and a nickel Trooper.

Sold the Python about three years later with less than 100 rounds down the pipe. The Trooper went not long after. I decided I like 1911s better.

There isn't a boot big enough to kick myself with.
