Another How much is it worth Python : )

I tried to thread jack the other one but didn't get much response. I made a trade for this shooter. It was a police officers duty weapon years ago. It has holster wear around the tip of the barrel. It shoots straight and the trigger is perfect. The grips aren't in the best shape, but it came with 2 additional grips a custom set and a set of old pachmires in the box. Any Python experts that can give their 2 cents.

Let him keep his old duty gun. That's like taking a mans dog, you just don't do it.

Given the condition, I believe a fair price is in the $1200.00 range.

1200? They go for almost double that. I've seen them sell for upwards of 3000

I remember you from the attempted thread jacking you tried to pull off.
            ;-)

guys keep in mind he doesn't want to sell it, just wants to know the value because he got it in a trade so the gun actual cash value is not something he knows.

            I'm no Colt expert
(I think I'm a Smith and Wesson revolver person.) but I guessed between
            $1200 up to $1600 dollars,
especially if someone wants for collection Ex-law enforcement pistols.
(which personally I think would be a very cool yet not overly expensive collection to get into.)

joke around with a buyer that they pay an extra hundred dollars because this one is actually one you could shoot.
it would not have to be a safe queen because you don't want to "devalue" it.

In that condition I would guess 1400 to 1600 or so. That said having a shooter python vs an investment one is great. Awesome gun to shoot

honestly, it may be 1400-1600 easy, all it takes is that one guy who has money that likes it, and he can offer you 2000+ for it and smile on his way out.

Its a beautiful gun, I know you're not selling it but let me do it for good measure:

                    1ST! I'LL TAKE IT!

As sealocan stated not for sale traded a super nice scope for it.

It should be worth what you paid for it. What are you looking for, props for getting it for a good price, insurance value, or??

^ honestly to validate the trad3. I am happy with the trade as this was a bucket list gun.

Congrats OP! She's a beauty. I'd put her price at $1500 - 1800 minimum. As others have said above the current market would probably make $2000 seem reasonable as a value.

If you shoot it, take it easy on the full house .357 loads. Not saying that the Python can't handle them but with a former LEO as an owner it may have seen quite a few rounds already and the list of gunsmiths who will work on Colt revolvers grows smaller by the day.

                            Enjoy it!

Are people actually seeing Pythons for $1200-1800?
I've been casually looking on-line and the ones I've seen have been $2500 and up.
Over $3000 is not uncommon. And they don't seem to hang around long either.
