    1911 Picture Request

I sent a 1911 away to be Hard Chromed yesterday, Alchemy quoted me 6-8 weeks for completion of the work. In the meantime I'm trying to decide whether the hammer, trigger and barrel should remain black or be bead blasted back to silver. So I'm here asking my good friends at Calguns, show me some pics of stainless or even better hard chromed 1911's with black barrels, triggers or hammers!

    Thanks guys!

You have the same SR1911 I have so ya don't need a pitcher. The black accents are gonna get replaced with SS parts eventually. Aesthetically they just don't do it for me.

I don't own a "2 tone" anything & unlikely I ever will. Well... my Park'd Range Officer has a SS barrel & bushing but that's about it.

Haha the SR1911 is extremely unhelpful because it has the opposite of what I want; a black grip safety and msh with a silver trigger and hammer. The hammer and trigger one the 1911 I sent to Alch are black. I could go the safe route I guess and have it all returned to silver...

Here's my Colt Gold Cup Elite IX -- originally these were two tone guns, but the previous owner had it hard chromed for use (sheriff's deputy). When I got it, I sent it out to Cylinder and Slide to be built to my specs. The original hard chrome was stripped, machining to frame (EGW grip safety, Stan Chen magwell suite, C&S ambi safety) and slide (Bomar adjustable rear, Dawson Precision FO front) done, then hard chrome reapplied.
The only black parts are the sights (Harrison Design retro ignition set, EGW Gold Cup trigger, 10-8 slide release, 10-8 mag release, Colt Custom Shop bushing and recoil spring plug).
            Hope this helps:

I agree on the dislike of dual tone, part of the reason I sent it in is because I don't like the black slide gray frame combination it has now.

I think as of this moment I'm likely to go with a black hammer but silver trigger.

I hardchromed the barrel with everything else, but the trigger is polymer and sites were left black. for obvious reasons. The hammer is stainless so I left it alone.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

My gunsmith sent it out to Techplate in Anaheim. The prep work is the most important part, so make sure it looks the way you want (brushed, matte, polished, etc.), then send it in.

Hard chromed in 1980, still holding up fine.

Right now it's cerakote on top of parkerized I believe. Ideally I want it to be matte rounds with brushed flats, as unreflective as possible.

So is your springer brushed or matte? Sorry I dont know the difference. I have a stainless trp but hc looks better. How much did that cost?
