TL;DR: Another GFOS story
So obviously I've seen and witnessed quite a few GFOS horror stories over the years, but my office is right around the corner from their Dublin location. I will occasionally swing over there either at lunch or after work to get a quick range session in. At the range desk, the employees have usually been pretty decent to even pretty cool sometimes. A couple of the guys recognize me and give me any break they can on range time or a rental gun if I didn't bring one of my own that day. So although some people have bad things to say, my overall experiences at the dublin location have been a-ok in my book (speaking strictly about range desk only). Well, other than the high price for range time but I knew that going in.
Fast forward to today.
I run out at lunch to take advantage of the lunch special. On their website it says $10 between 12-4 M-W. This specifies the dublin location (I triple checked). That's half price considering it's normally $20/hour. The Vacaville location is even cheaper but I digress...
When I go in, there is only one employee. I'll leave his name off for now. I explain what I'm looking to take advantage of the lunch special, and proceeds to be fairly rude about it. Insisting I'm mistaken and that lunch special only exists for the Vacaville store. I explain again (very calmly) and at this point he is ignoring that I'm speaking and just rings me up without the discount. We're talking about $10 off here, so I just paid it and went shooting. Really not worth making it any bigger of a deal than it already was.
Range was almost empty but very hot and poorly ventilated. This is a common theme many other calgunners have expressed in past threads. No exception today. Luckily, I was put far away from the other shooter so I could pick up all my brass and get out of there quickly to run back to work.
Anyway, I guess there's no real take away or point, but thought I might share regardless...
