    What was I expecting?

    TL;DR: Another GFOS story

So obviously I've seen and witnessed quite a few GFOS horror stories over the years, but my office is right around the corner from their Dublin location. I will occasionally swing over there either at lunch or after work to get a quick range session in. At the range desk, the employees have usually been pretty decent to even pretty cool sometimes. A couple of the guys recognize me and give me any break they can on range time or a rental gun if I didn't bring one of my own that day. So although some people have bad things to say, my overall experiences at the dublin location have been a-ok in my book (speaking strictly about range desk only). Well, other than the high price for range time but I knew that going in.

    Fast forward to today.

I run out at lunch to take advantage of the lunch special. On their website it says $10 between 12-4 M-W. This specifies the dublin location (I triple checked). That's half price considering it's normally $20/hour. The Vacaville location is even cheaper but I digress...

When I go in, there is only one employee. I'll leave his name off for now. I explain what I'm looking to take advantage of the lunch special, and proceeds to be fairly rude about it. Insisting I'm mistaken and that lunch special only exists for the Vacaville store. I explain again (very calmly) and at this point he is ignoring that I'm speaking and just rings me up without the discount. We're talking about $10 off here, so I just paid it and went shooting. Really not worth making it any bigger of a deal than it already was.

Range was almost empty but very hot and poorly ventilated. This is a common theme many other calgunners have expressed in past threads. No exception today. Luckily, I was put far away from the other shooter so I could pick up all my brass and get out of there quickly to run back to work.

Anyway, I guess there's no real take away or point, but thought I might share regardless...

    What's a GFOS?
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

I wanted to make sure we did not sell the firearm in question as it seemed to be reflected in your post, because YES, it is our understanding that this particular firearm in order to be CA legal must in fact have a bullet button as well as set up as a single shot only. However, to make sure we are not in error, we have forwarded this post with your information & firearm information to DOJ, and am awaiting their response. Once I get their written response, I will gladly post it here as well.

Did that clerk lube up before he stuck it to you?! I Woulda whipped out my phone, got on the website and showed the little douche wassup! $10 savings is just the icing on the cake, being right worth way more. Or tell him shove it and leave. Depends how bad you wanted the range time I guess

i would have spoken with someone in management before parting with my money. as it is, you agreed to pay full price in advance of your shooting time because it was "not worth making it any bigger of a deal than it already was."

the person that overcharged you probably did not intentionally do so, but was unaware of the special rate during the time you came in. your best bet now is to call management and ask for compensation for the overcharge that you agreed to. line up your ducks in a row before making the call. i don't think this will get too complicated. this should have been done before starting a thread about the incident.

Cannot believe the first two posts are what's GFOS! Their store comes up AT LEAST every other week.

Yes, being right is worth more than the extra 10 bucks I spent, but I was already in the mood for a range session so I guess they got me...

My goal here is not financial retribution. The money is gone as far as I'm concerned.

My point of starting the thread, was even though I have had all positive experiences with GFOS range in the past, I am now with all the long time neigh sayers that their shop could use a bit of work as it relates to customer service

I have read about the dealings with Guns, Fishing, and Other Stuff... However, I have never read about the dealings with GFOS. So, "WTF is GFOS?" was my first thought too. Just another reason to stay away.
