    What would you Purchase?

I own a Rock Island 1911 Officer. I would like to purchase a polymer .45 now... there are what i've been thinking about.

G21 or G30... my only issue is the light strike issue the LAPD was having a while back. Did Glock Fix it? Plus lots of parts available.

The USPc in .45 - excellent pistol, but kinda difficult to find and expensive.

Springfield XD - some parts available for update, what are your thoughts.

Smith and Wesson M&P in .45, from what i've heard its a good pistol. What are your thoughts.

I must also add, I have medium sized hands and the G21 feels way too big. Should I just quit it all and get another 1911 in 5"

Sure I work on Guns ; 105, 120 and 155mm. There was that 20" though.

USPc .45, very well built, lasts a long time if you take care of it and holds resale value very well. The USP is also the original polymer pistol.

I've noticed the m&p45's grip is more manageble than that of the XD and Glock .45 counterparts. And frankly, the xd and glock grips are like 2x4s. The M&P countours better and of course has the adjustable backstrap.

I gotta go with the Glock 21...

I personnally shoot them better but "different strokes", as they say. My next pistol will be a Glock 20. (I've been wanting a 10mm for a while now)

                USP or G30

For a polymer .45 in medium size, I'd probably get a USP 45c or a Glock 30. I have two USPs (but not the 45c) and they are excellent guns. And the Glock 30 is a well tested gun with many fans, so I would consider it as well. I have two other Glocks and they have run perfectly, so I trust the brand.

It comes down to which one feels the best in your hand and shoots well for you, so testing them at a rental range is a good idea.

I would highly recommend checking out the M&P45. It's a fantastic shooter. If you shoot 1911's, get the thumb safety version.

                      Bix,

You really need to find a range with rentals. And try them out, with your style of gripping the pistol, with your stance and firing the pistol. I have both a Glock 21SF and a HK expert. The 21SF is always in the case going to the range. Why? It fits my hand better when I shoot single handed.
                      Very interesting!!

M&P 45 gets my vote, I've put over 2000 rounds through mine and it only gets better.

I have shot the P2000, but it only comes in 9mm and .40. Both were very nice. I have been to the range and shot a G21 and its a big pistol, so I really need to find a place that has a G30 SF. So far nobody has a M&P for me to try.... And of course the USP is a wee bit more than most people want to pay.... so i'm not likely to find it as a range gun. We will see though.
                          Good luck

I'll vote for a Glock 21. I've owned mine since 1993 and have fired thousands and thousands of rounds through it. The only problem I ever had with it is when it was new. If you limp wrist it (and I was) it would jam. Once I learned to shoot properly it never did it again.

Cops just need to clean their guns. Go for the G21.
