Target Masters is coo...they're not that bad. but of course their store, their rules...that doesn't mean i can't disagree with their rules though...i'd still abide by them.

it's a bummer though...i can't shoot the new gun i bought from there.

Brass cased 9x18 ammo is available. I think Federal and Fiocchi and Winchester may still make it.

thats dumb if you pay to use the range and shooting your own gun then why should they care... it's not like the idiot buying the brass can't pick the steel stuff out when he sorts it anyway. does not make sense to me

A commercial reloader isn't going to want to spend the added time doing this. It's dumb to think any bussiness owner would want to increase their production time! Also, just one missed case will cause a automated press to shut down for up to 1/2 hour! At 2 rounds a second, that's a lot of money being lost! It's dumb to think that just because you don't fully understand something, it is dumb.

I know for a fact one or two commercial reloaders at least that accepted brass with steel and aluminum in it.

+1 - Aluminum and steel cased ammo are generally Berdan primed so it snaps off primer pins and it can jam inside the resizing stage. While steel can generally be removed from a pile of brass with an electromagnet, it takes extra processing time. Aluminum is harder to segregate, especially if mixed in with nickled brass.

Most indoor ranges don't make rules to be obnoxious. They usually have reasons. Can't shoot your rifle there? That's because some nimrod bought some mil-surp commbloc AP ammo and shot it there. Can't shoot FMJ rounds from Magnums? That's because their backstop armor plating is expensive and they're trying to get the most out of it.

One range insisted that I buy their ammo for my .41 Magnum and all they had were reloads. I asked them, if a round blows up my gun, were they insured? Their answer was that it would be the ammo company's fault. I told them they were requiring me to use it, so they would be culpable too, and were they insured? Round & round twice more. I gave them their targets back and said I was leaving.
