    Sig SP2022

I am able to pick up my SP2022 on Saturday and was wondering what you CalGunners thought of it if you have it. Any mods or opinions? Thanks!

Lots of sip pro fans here, a very reliable firearm. I had one with night sights and couldn't stand them, great for home defense but horrible at the range. Also could stand the trigger, super long.

One bonus is that .40 caliber mags will work for 9mm, and or more available as well as cheaper in price.

I'm sorry if my innocence on the matter makes you laugh but your saying I can use .40c round in my 9mm sp2022 or just that I can convert it to .40.

And yeah I got it for home defense/work defense, I didn't think my Sig 1911-22 would do so well defensively haha.

SP2022 was my first sig. I never had a FTF on this gun. However you may have to adjust your grip so you won't rest on the slide stop. Yes you can use 40 mag but watch out putting extra rd on it.

And I agree with highwildfree, it's good for HD/SD with the combat sight.

I'm new to scene of HD/SD. I basically started as a target shooter, I've got incredible aim (range only, no live scenario, adrenaline, etc.) I've started training and what not.

When you say FTF you're referring to "face to face" I assume? A little off topic (plus my curiosity) but have you had FTF encounters?

And the combat sights are the stock sights?

You can use the .40 cal magazine to load 9mm, you cannot use a .40 cal rounds.
The DA pull is long but I consider it as an added safety feature. The SA pull is really nice. I kept mine stock with a mounted trl. I did all my training with it pistol 101, rifle/pistol, shotgun/pistol and it never failed. I think I put 3000+ rounds already and still going strong.

            Cons: spare mags are expensive.

I think he means 'fail to fire'....

Rock solid from my experience. I have the .40 with 5k+ rounds and no issues at all

Sorry I should be more specific. I never had failure to feed / failure to fire

Sig uses combat sight picture so your front sight is going to cover your point of aim. For me it is hard to get a really tight group with this sight picture.

The 2022 is a "gateway" Sig. It was my introduction to the system. Afterwards I added a 220, 229 and 239. Welcome to the "Sig-ness"

Very good! I'm excited to break it in. All I have are Sigs currently! Sig family for the win. Good to hear all that about the SP2022 though. Thanks again.

What I meant was in a 9mm sp2022 you can use .40 cal mags for 9mm. They will hold 13 rounds. Some might frown saying that's over ten, but your not modifying them from their original configuration.

I would have kept mine but couldn't stand the mile long trigger pull.

I've read about the long trigger pull. Some advocates for the SP2022 suggested in a SD/HD situation having a harder trigger to pull is better because it means you're truly "ready" to engage when you do so (rather than a nervous misfire). That's a different discussion in itself though
