Shield is good, as are the Kahr pistols. Very different trigger though. If you are in NorCal you could try some of mine. I recommend a thinner gun like the Shield over the thick Glock but you have to decide how many rounds you want.

I've shot both at the range when I was deciding last year.
The Glock 26 was good overall, except for:
1. Grip a little fat for me
2. When shooting with the extended magazine, the recoil hurt my little finger (the regular magazine was fine)

The Shield shot well, overall a slightly lower score than the Glock.
Issues:
1. The "feel" was a little heavy
2. The trigger was not as good

Finally, if you look at the Kahr, read reviews on different sites first (not the Kahr website - they are mainly 100% supporters of the brand, warts and all).

aim surplus $239 just add the wolff springs for $10 i recommend the 18# hammer spring* the DA is like 26 # spring stock so it must be changed due to soviets using submachine gun ammo in it. Please note P64 has a european mag release.

I've shot the G26 and own a 9mm Shield. While I liked both guns, the Shield won out to me being that I got it for just under $400 new, and its a lot slimmer. I liked the feel a lot better than the wide feel of the G26, which is also why my G30 is dedicated to only last ditch gun. To be honest with the Shield I've never noticed the LCI when firing, but then again maybe I've gotten used to them since my first handguns I bought had the LCI as well. Also you can get Viridian products such as a green or red laser, or a light. The mount for it looks factory as well and doesn't really weight anything.

As for the Kahr I've heard both good and bad things about them. A couple buddies swear by their CT9 and TP45. I have no experience with any Kahr handguns. My friends live out of state otherwise I'd try out the guns.

Either way both are great reliable guns. I'm sure down the road I'll pick up a G26 just for the heck of it.

Check out the market place you should be able to get an off roster shield (no indicator/no mag disconnect) for about that and do a ppt. I love my shield.

i have no history with the Shield. the G26 has been my favorite sub-compact semi-auto for a long time.

Love my G26 also even though it is a little fat. It is a very easy gun to shoot and amazingly accurate for its size. Don't use the pinky extensions as its easy enough to shoot without them, just takes getting used to.

I’m in the Sacramento Area.
I was about to purchase a Kahr and did some research and it seems it’s a hit or miss with quality and the ability to feed other than ball ammo. With the shield I found the part to replace the LCI but I have to figure out how to change the sear housing? to remove the magazine safety.

Kahrs are very underrated. My Kahrs go bang every single time. Manual states a 200 round break in to be considered reliable, I've never had had an issue during or after that break-in. No manual safeties, no lci or mag lock on most models, and they conceal better than glocks or on roster S&Ws.

If you don't mind a teigger pull as long as a revolver the kahr cw9 is a great gun. The grip is just long enough to fit all of your fingers in if you have average size hands, it's light for it's light and is single stack. I carry mine almost every day and have put close to 2000 rounds through it without any issues. I think that most of the reliability issues come from people, not using the slide release to chamber the first round, people complaining about the gun before the break in period ends and people with a poor grip.

You can find them new for right around 400 and 350-400 used. One thing to keep in mind though is it only comes im with one magizine. A spare is $25
