I have the same gun. Never any issues and as accurate as anything I own in .45

I am not a fan of target sights on a 1911 or any defensive handgun. I briefly owned a 1911 Range Officer and the bulky black adjustable rear sight was not useful for a defensive tool. If you intend to use it as a nightstand gun I'd skip the target model and go for fixed (preferably night) sights.

great fit and finish and tons of features for the price. have just 700 rounds through my tacops, no hiccups. trigger hasn't smoothed out as much as i like, it's off at alan tanaka's right now for a trigger job and trijicon HD night sight install. will post pics as soon as i get her back. was able to get it for 699 from grab-a-gun, so it was a no-brainer at that price...

I have a sig XO and I just recently got a traditional match elite 9mm. So far no issues, both run great. The XO has dawson sights, rassco grips and and a smith and alexander magwell.

SIG Sauer 1911s are highly underrated. If you could only own one gun, you could do a whole lot worse. I believe that SIGs are the best bang for your buck in 1911s.

Don't quote me on it but I've read that browning original design had an external extractor there's even a video on YouTube about the history of the browning 1911 showing something that resembles an external extractor on his original design.
I think you're right. The Army wanted him to change to an internal extractor so it could be swapped out by the soldier without having to go back to an armory. It is kind of nice that you don't have to worry about spring tension with the external ones.

I picked up a used 1911 TacOps last year and had some issues with cycling.
I was shooting factory ammo from a few different brands and I think it boiled down to fouling on the external extractor. It was failing to seat on the next chambered round. All it needed was a tap with the hand at the back of the slide and was good to go. However, not something you want in a SD/HD situation.
I detail stripped it and there was significant build up on the extractor. After cleaning I have had no issues.
Shoots really nice, great features for the price.

If you do not know a lot about 1911's in general then take someone who knows a lot with you. The Sig 1911's can have issues.
I have owned 7 Sig Sauer 1911's, of those only two were fit properly. These issues have been:grip safety gap way too wide (cosmetic only), barrel hood cut too long, hammer lean to the point it would contact the slide on the side of the rear groove, severe trigger slop, freckling of the stainless slides and on one the frame cracked (an early Caspian frame model). These were subtle to see on some and unfortunately I did not know a lot about 1911's when I bought the first three.
Anyways, 5/7 fail rate on quality of fit and material by my experiences.
Whatever you do, do not buy a used Sig Sauer, the "lifetime" warranty does not carry over to the subsequent buyers. The customer service is not the same as S&W or Springfield Armory.
All that being said, my favorite 1911 is a second generation Sig Sauer "GSR" railed 1911. I currently own three but the factory build quality of the Dan Wesson 1911 is much much better. I really like the Springfield Armory 1911 but you get more for your money out of the Sig Sauer 1911.

Did you notice a quality control increase for the later model Sigs? I read that they moved most things in-house and incorporated some CNC machines to tighten things up a bit.

Totally agree. Excellent bang for your buck. Have a tac ops here and has been flawless with awesome accuracy.
