I don't understand, I thought you couldn't just buy guns and bring them back to CA from out of state?

Maybe he moved there so he could keep the gun , almost seems worth moving for.

...and lose a TON of collector value.
Normally, valuable / collectable weapons are best left alone.
OP, keep the Hoppe's solvent away from it...it does bad things to nickel.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

I had to move to Utah for work. I moved and rented an apartment. I still have my house in Cali. I'll be back soon enough. I do love being in a free state but family comes first.
The feeling of walking into that store in New Mexico and being able to buy that Python and have it shipped to an FFL in Utah is amazing. Like I said, I had it in my hands within 2 days. I had them overnight it to Utah.
Went to the FFL in Salt lake, and in less than 20 minutes it was done. It took that amount of time because of people looking at it.
That's why in the original post, I said, "the roster must die". Everyone, should be able to walk into any gun store and what they want and have it shipped to Cali and take it home that day. We're getting so screwed here in Cali.
It didn't realize refinishing the gun would cause it's value to drop. Do you guys think that would be the case even if it's done by Colt?Last edited by Canadadry; 06-13-2015, 4:57 PM.Comment

a refinish by Colt would be preferable to having the job done by most all other shops, but it would still lower the collectible value of the revolver.Comment

That is awesome. Thank you for sharing.I was board siting in my hotel room in Albuquerque, NM and decide to check out one of the local gun stores. I walked in and shortly after noticed a 6 inch Nickel Python in amazing condition. I gave it back to the clerk and looked at some other guns. I asked to see it again and said, "i'll take it". It's the typical story, husband dies and leaves the wife with a lot of guns.
