Hard chrome finish

Does anyone have any issues using a brushed hard chrome finish regarding holster wear. Just wondering if it is more durable than the stock finish from CZ. I should he receiving my Tac sport and sp01 tactical from CGW next week. Both are brushed hard chrome woth matte rounds and hardware.

The stock finish on the CZs are basically like cerakote. Hard chrome is probably the toughest (though not most corrosion resistant) finish out there. If you want the best of both worlds, melonite does a good job. The chrome finish might shine up after a while.

This one got hard chromed in 1979. It has held up well. The slide rails are in great shape, no peeling, just a nice polish.

Out of curiosity, what do they charge for something like that? I tried looking at their site but it's terrible on my phone. I have a Tactical Sports I want to get refinished and I'm weighing all my options.

Initially I wanted to go with a copperhead package but they convinced me to go with the hard chrome. Since I have a few guns there they gave me a deal. I also had them send my 97bd "e" out to Ford gun refinishing for a master blued glossy finish

Hard Chrome is great. Look at the Springfield Custom Shop Guns many are Hard Chrome finish. I had them put it on a Gold Cup and it looked and held up great.

Had my Gold Cup hard chromed as well about 20 years ago. Still looks as good as the day I got it back after it was refinished. Very tough finish that stands up to holster wear just fine. Easy to clean. I had my pistol finished in the combo matt and brushed finish just like the original finish. It's a beauty and my favorite pistol.

I had a hard-chromed six inch Python that was my holster gun in the early 1980s. It held up well and in 20/20 hindsight I wish I had kept it.

Hard Chrome is a great finish but not the best for corrosion resistance. There are more modern plating's such as Nickel Boron Nitride that offers great hardness and better corrosion protection and also offer lubrication and the lowest friction

Have an STI 1911 that came factory hard chromed. Use it for USPSA competition so it is in and out of holster a lot. I do quite a bit of dry fire practice so it has hundreds of draws from holster. No wear on it in the year I have had it.

I also have a 1911, 25 plus years old with a hard chrome finish. Same results as this ^^^^^^ OP.

Yes, some of the newer finishes offer a little more corrosion resistances for have a lower coefficient of friction.
But none are as hard and scratch resistant.

I prefer hard chroming over all the best.

Melonite/tennifer (flock)/salt bath nitrating is a close second. It would be my choice for something that needs to be concealed..

That sounds like it will be beautiful when it's finished. Can you say about how much Ford charges for that finish on a semi-auto pistol?

Hard chrome is a great finish

This Glock 23 was hard chromed 20 years ago and the finish still looks perfect after lots of use and holstering. The chrome finish cleans up very quickly and most things won't stick to it. I also like the looks of the finish on a black polymer gun like the Glock.
