    2015 Python Values in CA?

First, this is not another "Calguns price gouging" thread.

What are the actual selling prices of Pythons these days? I see tons of them listed for $2500 and more, but many of them north of $2000 still seem to be listed and unsold after a long time at those prices. Condition and originality clearly have a particularly heavy influence - amplified by the overall high prices.

I wish people would leave the "sold" prices up on their ads instead of deleting them and marking them SOLD. Calguns would be an incredible resource of real world values if the selling prices stayed up.

I agree with you on keeping the sold price up. It'd definitely be a nice resource all around.

A price between a buyer and seller can be negotiated and as so, should remain between those two parties only. It's no different than going to buy a car under sticker price and keeping it to yourselves.

I never keep the price I pay for vehicles to myself. In fact when I have purchased autos in the past at great prices I tell anyone who will listen. And I tell them where I got them.
          Sorry, not sorry.

Agreed, it'd be no different than gunbroker's sold listings.

It's a shame that actual market value is difficult to track here. You have to infer value based on listing price vs. time to sell.

Sales price would be handy and an asset to all. Why keep it a secret? I always keep the sales price posted in my listings.

I'll tell you what they are selling for. I have been watching the sales on the gun websites for some time now.

I think Python value in CA would be the same as the rest of the country due to SAE aka SSE v 2.0 so gunbroker is a good source. Even if people leave the final selling price up in the thread there is no way to tell if that is true. If you really want to know you can always PM the seller for info to see if he is willing to disclose it.

                      my observation.

I notice that in CA Roster mostly puts premium on modern off roster handguns. I got some really good buys on collectible ,out of production firearms here in Ca. I would have paid MUCH more for the same firearms if I bought them on auction sites .

I saw two Pythons at the Costa Mesa show on Saturday. Both were blued 6", though I didn't notice the caliber. They looked unfired, though I did not inquire so they could have been used but like-new. One had the original box, though the box was pretty beat up; they wanted $2400 for it. The other was $2650 if I recall, but I did not see a box. It may have had one but I didn't ask. These prices seem a little lower than what I have seen recently on GunBroker for comparable examples.

I notice the same thing. One of my favorite gun shops , has several used , out of production handguns that are priced BELLOW what the same guns would sell at Gun Shows in free states.

Roster effects new handguns that can not be brought to California.

Because we are a very big state, there is still a decent supply of out of production, collectible stuff that can be bought on consignment at stores or private collectors at prices LOWER than auction sites.

I recently bought bought an ufired , boxed three inch model 36 no dash at a gun shop for 525.00 OTD If I was looking for the same gun online , I would end up paying more , much more.

A Glock 43 , orr roster Sig or a VP9 , will bring A LOT more excitement at the range , or Calguns for sale section than a S&W Model 18 in 22LR or a Beretta Jaguar. In free states or auction sites , its the other way around.

All Pythons are .357 magnum with the exception of a very few that were produced in .38 special. Prices can vary due to the very early ones being a bit more sought after. I really like my '64 Python, but I swear if they go up much more I may go ahead and sell it.

Depends on what Rick Grimes wants for his. . . Seriously, that's what's driving the market + CA inflation prices.
