2015 Python Values in CA?

I suppose I never wanted to be associated with a group of 4 young rouge SFPD motor vigilante units so I bought the Python with a longer barrel. I didn't want inspector Calahan after me. It sure is amazing what a young man can learn watching the silver-screen.

Can anyone give me input on this one? It has holster wear on the very tip of the barrel. It has original grips, but the back of the grips have some chipping. I've shot it and it's super smooth/accurate. It also came with some custom grips and pachmyer grips.

Assuming the firearm in question functions properly, I would expect to pay $2000 and up for the firearm pictured. $2200 would not be unreasonable and $1800 would be a good deal.

Just curios, when was the last time a +95% Python or really any Colt with box was offered for sale on CG? On GB there are two 2.5" Pythons for sale for $9,500 and $11,000 in a free state IIRC.

Exactly, since December 2014, only FOUR Colts were offered for sale. Either someone is hoarding them or the 5X the paid price is still not enough to consider selling what you have.

Well, you're asking for BOXED/PAPERED examples....guys with NIB or investment-grade Colts just don't sell them everyday. There are quite a few Pythons and other snakes that have gone up for sale, just without boxes. Not sure why everyone throws theirs away......

Well, they're certainly not rare guns.
I've seen lots of non rare collectibles climb into the stratosphere until a certain saturation level is discovered.
At that time, the market becomes flooded and people begin to wonder what they were thinking.
The more I see talk of them rising in value forever, the closer it looks to me like the top has already been seen.
I wish I still had one of my three.

Or the new season of "Walking Dead" starts and some character on that show, impresses upon 92% of the real-life zombies that watch that show, that the Python is their must-have gun because it shoots 1/2 MOA at 1000 yards, from the hip, blindfolded, while drunk.

So prices should be back up by December; and should Disney by the rights to the show, and turn "The Walking Dead" into a musical, Python prices will skyrocket.

There was another thread on "should you borrow" to buy guns and personally, I sold my collection a couple years back now I wish I kept them. They did go to a great home (you know who you are!!) and I know this guy really appreciates them. But the answer is YES!!! I almost paid off the Corvette but took out an auto equity loan and, too much money to post later I think I am pretty satisfied with my Colt collection.

All Pythons that are not 99% and with all boxes, etc. are shooter grade. Condition is key in pricing such shooters.

A shooter grade in excellent condition seems to be in the $2,500+ range. Sell them for less and people seem to jump on them.

I would like to believe that Python prices will only go up, if not stay the same. As far as values, well, they are relative. Price does not equal value, ya know?
