    performance center r8

Is this revolver as good as it seems? I'm a 1911 fan but I'm thinking hard about this one. My lgs has one for $1250 otd. Thanks in advance, guys

Because in a wheel gun, 8 is great. Especially with a nice Performance Center trigger.

This is the one I'd most like to get, worth the $ IMHO.

ahhhh... no they're not (the triggers). USED to be.. .now S&W's lawyers wont let them make a trigger worth a darn. Plus, all the PC guns now come with the MIM (and non-hand fit) trigger components. It's the standard production parts, that cost more.

But you should still get it, and then get it tuned.

It's looks awesome. The mim parts are a bummer but the standard trigger kills me. I thought the whole idea behind performance center models was to get extra hand work. I will see my ffl this week and do some more debating

A friend of mine has one and I've shot it quite a bit. For its size it is very light and having 8 shots is great. It is definitely a unique looking revolver. Extremely accurate. I don't care for the V-notch rear sight.

Unfortunately S&W quality control doesn't seem like it is quite what it used to be. My friend has sent his back twice for light primer strikes (Armscor 38spl factory ammo). It still strikes light but he's resigned to just buying ammo that uses softer primers. Now the barrel shroud is loose and its going to go back a third time. For something this expensive I'd expect it to be perfect.

I love all my Smith's and am sure this is another great one, but "Go for your eight gun" just doesn't sound as menacing.

Thanks for the heads up. I was planning to buy one based on the belief that the Performance Center guns were a big step up. If the trigger isn't better, then I think I might just get an 8-shot Model 627 instead and save a few hundred dollars.

'eight for sure' might be enticing to the prospective buyer.
