    And I have numerous guns which are "native" .40 caliber but I shoot 9mm through them using a conversion barrel. In some cases, I can shoot 9mm and .40 out of the .40 mags with no mods and in some cases I can shoot 9mm and .40 from the .40 mags only after I tweak them.

    There is no law anywhere saying this is illegal to do.

      I assume you mean "holds the same weight", and I might add it holds the same weight as legal advice obtained from internet forums.

      I simply posted what the people who enforce the laws say. You can "weight" it as you see fit.

        As a hypothetical example, if california DID want to make the practice of "cross caliber" magazine loading illegal, they would have to require all magazine makers clearly stamp the caliber on the magazine as well as a warning that using it for any other caliber was illegal.

        Not saying they would never pass such a law (after all, this is California) but no such law exists yet.

        They might also try to pass a law making it simply illegal to possess any magazine which is loaded with more than ten rounds, but I recall New York tried something like that and it was thrown out (?)

        Anyway, no end to the possibility of stupid laws they might pass, but they haven't passed them yet.
