G17 vs G22 frame

Glock ejectors are caliber specific. Get the 40 ejector and a 40 mag, then you should be good to go.

Sorry about reviving an old thread but this is exactly the situation I'm in.
I was torn between the G17 and G22. I ultimately decided on the G17 Gen 3,
and it's en route to my FFL as we speak. It's the 3-pin frame btw.

After I bought it, I stumbled upon the fact that one could swap out
slides/barrels and have two calibers on the same frame. I think it was on
Glockforum where I read that it's easier to go from .40 to 9mm conversion
rather than the opposite.

There's so much conflicting information that it's driving me nuts! I'd love to
be able to pick up a G22 slide and be able to use it on my G17 frame.

As Lumpia is sarap (awesome user name!) pointed out, I've also read that
swapping out the G17 ejector for the G22 ejector (really inexpensive to do)
would be the best thing to do with this, as it should be able to eject both
9mm and .40 with no issues, whereas the 9mm ejector might have
problems with the .40.

So based on what I was able to find out, I should be GTG with using a G22
slide on my G17, and by swapping out the trigger housing for the .40 as well.

Any advice?

Just get a LE G22 trade in, they are $339 or less at gun stores around here, always available and look and shoot great.

That's a great price on the G22, and definitely about what my budget would
allow. I've never seen them this low where I live. I just so happen to be in
the Sac area right now and will stop by in the morning before heading home.

No prices like that around here. Ugh. The Socal gun economy is pretty inflated. I'm lucky to find under MSRP.

I was thinking about doing this as well. Unfortunately I have a gen4 G17 frame. I don't really want to pick up gen4 G22 from the marketplace since people are asking around $800 vs a new gen4 G22 slide is about $300.

So if using a gen4 G17 frame and wanting to shoot .40S&W, all that is needed is gen4 G22 complete slide (Slide, barrel, and spring) and .40S&W extractor along with .40 magazines. Anything else is required for it function as if it was a FACTORY gen4 G22? Any potential issues to the G17 frame if using all the above as described?
