    my first squib

Shooting cheap reloads today and got my first squib. Didn't recognize what it was when it first happened. Trigger didn't reset, racked the slide, spent brass ejected, next round loaded, and something just didnt feel right. Looked at the brass, looked ok, was going to keep on shooting but then thought about a squib. Decided to open the gun up for a good look and there it was.

The post i read here helped me to think of it so I'm adding mine. Thanks to everyone's kaboom and squib stories, mine turned out ok.

Glad you decided to trust your instinct and caught it in time.

sometimes when im out in the open doing a little rapid shooting i think about that happening

kind of takes the fun out of rapid shooting, i find myself slightly pausing between shots just to make sure

Good catch. Squibs can have nasty outcomes.

Well that's the thing, sqiubs usually don't have enough energy to cycle the action of a semiauto pistol. You usually see it easier than a revolver.

I had a squib in my colt trooper once. Actually my mother did. Good thing I was watching her at the time.. the round just lightly popped. She almost started shooting again.

              No bueno.

              Glad you caught yours.

Glad you caught it before something bad happened. I have had a few squibs from cheap reloads from Triune Defense.

Don't shoot MagTech either I got a squib with them. Sent them the case, info, and the remaining ammo as asked. Nothing back when they promised me a refund. Under powered crap as long as I'm concerned.

My first Calguns thread was this squib story.

Does the squib round simply fall out of the barrel, or do they typically work themselves into the rifling?

The work themselves in per se.

Primers have just enough force to propel the projectile ever so into the barrel but because of the rather "tight" tolerances of the projectile and barrel you would need to use a rod and push-grunt or a rubber mallet to push it out as it won't drop free in either direction.

If we didn't use every brand that ever produced a squib then no one would shoot.
